I was thinking of the end of Cold Fire when Janeway shot Suspiria with her anti-sporocystian weapon and she returned to her true wormy form before wiggling away into space. This would indicate to me that the female of the species is bigger and meaner than the male as well as capable of pretending to be a little semi-human girl.
