Was Data in a relationship with Tasha after "The Naked Now"?

We know they had sex in that episode under the influence of the virus.

But if one considers what happens in the "The Measure of a Man", she might have been the most important person on the ship for him. So important in fact that he kept a hologram of her, after her death.

Could it be that they were in a long term relationship after "The Naked Now" and they kept it secret and/or it was simply never shown?

That doesn't track with "In Theory", wherein he actually tried a romantic relationship and didn't understand how to do it.

I'm not sure if it tracks with the "First Contact" movie, wherein he tells the Borg Queen precisely how long it's been since he was intimate with anyone. Anyone know if it lines up with "The Naked Now"?

According to First Contact it had been "8 years, 7 months, 16 days, 4 minutes 22 seconds" since the last time.

FC happened at least two years after Generations (which was most likely set months after Season 7) IIRC.

So he might have had sex after "The Naked Now".

According to the internet, Stardate 50893. 50893 - 8625 = 42268. Which would place it between Where Silence Has Lease and Elementary, Dear Data.

The plot thickens.

Perhaps after losing Tasha he privately attempted to solve the issue of what input his circuits became accustomed to by simulating the inputs?

And we know that Data is fully functional......

TASHA: And what I want now is gentleness. And joy. And love. From you, Data. You are fully functional, aren't you?
DATA: Of course, but
TASHA: How fully?
DATA: In every way, of course. I am programmed in multiple techniques, a broad variety of pleasuring,
TASHA: Oh, you jewel! That's exactly what I hoped.

It makes Data the most interesting sex toy ever. And from a woman's point of view Data would be much appreciated, because he would shut up when being told to do so......

I don't think they entered into a relationship after that. We know Tasha had a crush for Castillo. We don't know anything about Castillo's qualities as lover, though.

I don't think Tasha was normally wired that way, to consort with a fellow Officer. Remember that "The Naked Now" was an anomalous situation.
I don't think she would have continued seeing Data , romantically or otherwise.
Earlier TNG was of course more episodic, which makes the speculation all the more tantalizing. But given Data's near-lack of emotion, and Tasha's personality and career drive, I just don't see it.

She struck me as an officer on a Command path.

It only happened that one time in The Naked Now. Afterwards, Tasha told Data, "It never happened". I suppose they never did it again and it was never spoken of again until Data brought it up in The Measure of a Man.

This.

However, it was implied they remained close friends after that on several occasions.

Yep.

I always assumed he was referring to Tasha when he mentioned the 8 years etc. to the Borg Queen. If that doesn't quite add up, when was In Theory? That is the only other time I remember him in a relationship on the show.

I took it that they might have been in a relationship. If the intoxication from the virus made them want a relationship, it's possible different conditions occurred making them repeat the encounter.

It was kind of a missed opportunity not to relate back to it while Yar was still part of the cast but that was an artefact of isolated episode storytelling. The callbacks were few and far between and this was one of them.

But the way I see it, Data held onto the experience and attributed more meaning to it because it was him losing his virginity. Kind of natural when you think about it. There's always a special place for your first but the reverse isn't usually true.

Maybe it is because he might have had with Tasha something purely based on sex, where Tasha simply told Data what to do while Jenna expected something more than that...

No

Just no.
Agreed. In the Naked Now, Tasha was influenced by the virus and revealed she had some fascination of Data; I'm wondering if she found his child like manner in tuned with her own? Tasha's past was horrifying, and lost her innocence, Data was the vessel to restore it. The two of them are like kids trapped in an adult body, but there's no way they explored anything beyond that episode. It was too early in the adventures.
