Was Beverly a waste of space?

How come any culture she did not find to her tastes, she utterly condemned as "bad" or "savage"?

Surely if one is merely living in a multi-species Federation, such judgmental/holier-than-thou attitudes hold no place. Reminds me of when she said in Sins of the Father "what kind of weapon causes a vicious wound like that?" lol. yeah, Klingons will stop using weapons of their choice invented by their Kahless divinity, just because some dopey-arse Starfleet doctor says so. ;):guffaw:

I wouldn't call Beverly a waste of space, she's perfect for a ship full of families. She could also be a bit judgmental at times but she's a doctor, she's suppose to diagnose. It feels like she has uses the word savage but I can't think of any episodes, you should link the episodes you refer to. Maybe in context she used it correctly.

Diagnostics and judgmental behaviour. yeah, that's an evident link... Do Klingons have to give a shit what some Starfleet doctor thinks of their assassin practices?

She was opinionated, that's for sure. Nothing wrong with that. She never tried to impose her own views to others.

Beside, even if she were, she would have been one of the prettiest ways to waste space.

Opinionated? more like condemning other species, with their own evolution

What's more, who the hell are you to condemn MY opinion as meaningless?

Sauce? ha ha!!!

You seemingly think I must heed to your fucking word. Who the hell are you? lol.. and you call yourself gentleman, yeah, very gentlemanly...

Meh, Beverly was underdeveloped. She was basically there to spit out the medical technobabble and later on when they got bored with that, to be a romantic interest for Picard.

McFadden was a good actress whose character suffered most of the time from bad writing. Funny enough, I think that season one was the strongest one for the character.

The one thing I can't forgive Beverly for was spawning Wesley. Other than that I quite liked her as a character, she was a strong-willed woman who let her thoughts be heard.
