Warning for Nvidia users: 196.75 drivers causing overheating

I thought I had better worn any Nvidia users here. Nvidia has removed the 196.75 drivers from their website after reports that the drivers where causing cards to overheat. It appears that the drivers do not signal the fan to run at full speed, and some people have reported that their graphics cards have been ruined.

Nvidia recommends that users roll back to a previous driver version. More here: http://www.incgamers.com/News/21293/

Yesterday, I played Mass Effect 2 for several hours using these drivers. I am glad nothing happened!

Glad I moved to 64-bit, otherwise I might have downloaded this.

I'm not sure what you mean by this?

The drivers in question where available for 64-bit Windows also. I had them installed with Windows 7 64-bit, before finding out about the problems.

196.75 was released a few days ago as WHQL certified drivers, but have since been removed from Nvidia's site.

I never saw it for Vista/7 64-bit when I was testing out drivers to fix some glitchy-ness from ME2. Maybe 'cause I was looking at mobile drivers?
