Warning: Avoid the Countdown Singers At All Costs

Everyone:

If you don't know, the Countdown Singers are a revolving group of studio musicians used by Madacy Entertainment to perform sound-alike cover versions of well-known songs. Their CDs are commonly found at Wal-Mart and other discount retailers.

They tricked me. I always check the labels on music CDs I buy, to make sure the music is really being sung by the original artist. In this case, however, the CD case in question didn't explictly say the songs were cover versions done by the *abysmal* Countdown Singers. I suppose it should have been a dead giveaway that the CD case had the words "Madacy Entertainment" on it but, once fooled, twice shy (or, in my case, pissed off).

So, here's my Good Samaritan deed for the day: Avoid the Countdown Singers at all costs!

I have a 3 pack CD set called "Hits of the 70's".
It features "The Countdown Singers". Of course I bought this years ago and didn't know about cover groups for things like that yet. Oh, I would discover quickly.

However, I lucked out on a few things. Number one, "House of the Rising Sun" as done by them, was great. I really liked their take on the song, and the singer was able to hit some great notes. So I consider myself lucky in that regard.

Well, you had better luck than I did, J. Allen. I couldn't get through more than a couple of the cover attempts by The Countdown Singers before chucking the tin and its three CDs.

If there's nothing on the cover that says it's a cover album, can't you return it to the store for a refund saying it's deceptive?

I went onto Amazon to find out who they are (Amazon only has one copy left of their 3-CD #1 Hits! Act now!). Boy are those albums bad. They're like The Asylum of music.
