Warner Bros developing film adaptation of DC's Suicide Squad

I think I read also that the guy who wrote Super Max (not Goyer - the guy who rewrote his idea) will also write SS. So I suspect that some of the ideas from that (apparently stalled) project will make it into this one.
Having said that, I imagine that this movie will encounter a lot of the same problems that Supermax (and the JLA movie) did - WB and DC not wanting to use villains who might later appear in solo Batman or Superman movies, the movie being left with a lot of characters not known to the cinema going public. Having said that, a good script would overcome lack of recognition factor (were Scarecrow or Ras Al Ghul well known before Batman Begins?). But my bet is still that this project also ends up in development hell.
