WarGames

Flying Spaghetti Monster

Vice Admiral
Admiral
I love this movie! I just found it on Netflix. (I can't find my video) Used to watch it with my dad.

I want to discuss the fantastic opening scene. Short of A New Hope, it may be my favorite opening to a film. I love how the details are selectively revealed. (you almost don't notice the men getting the revolvers). The editing gets faster but never becomes hyper-kenetic. I really love this movie. What a relief to see a real drama starring young people that doesn't involve super-powers and the angst that goes with it.

SETEC ASTRONOMY

I love the "That is old!" joke that I never got as a kid. :-)

^And I think I love Sneakers even more than WarGames.

Who first theorized asexual reproduction?
Your wife?
Get out!

And give him head whenever he wants.
And give him he.... Give him help. Be a beacon in his sad and lonely world.
Give him head?
Be a beacon?
Laughter

Sneakers is the best Mission Impossible film ever made :)

"I can't kill my friend...kill my friend."

I love WarGames and especially now for its very dated technology (some of it kids today haven't even seen let alone used) but the underlying message evident at the end of the movie was also good.

Sneakers is also awesome but how could it not have been with this cast?

"Anybody remember how to deceive an electronic keypad?

*listens to instructions over the earpiece*

"Yeah.. mhh.. right.. ok, i'll give it a shot"

*kicks in door*

:guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

WarGames and Sneakers - great idea for a double-feature! Two of my favorite movies of all time.

Barry Corbin was a perfect choice for the General in WarGames. You could picure that guy hanging out with Chuck Yeager in his off-time. Or maybe that astronaut. I think his name was Minnifield? :)

"I'd piss on a spark plug if I'd make a difference!"

I had a Wargames video game! I think it was Atari. Don't solve things fast enough and those nuclear blobs started blooming all OVER the US!

Best line in the whole film comes from Barry Corbin of course:

"Mr. McKittrick...after careful consideration, sir, I have come to the conclusion that your 'new defense system' SUCKS." :guffaw:

Although I also get chills when John Spencer says this:

"SCREW the procedure. I want somebody on the %()#*^T phone before I kill 20 million people!"

The NORAD set was fantastic. Holds up better than a lot of sets today.

I read once that it became a thing for a while at the actual NORAD, which looked nothing like the set in the movie. The people who worked there would constantly refrence it and ask why their command center didn't look like it did in the movie.

Wargames is the film that ruined Terminator 3 for me. Because that's how the whole Skynet gets self aware scenes should have been.

Now I'm picturing the Terminator asking John Connor if he'd like to play a nice game of chess.

Thanks a ton. :p

I love that bit towards the end where "Joshua" continuously runs and re-runs simulations of every possible iteration of WW III at lightning speed. Quite chilling, that.
