The Motion Picture was Shatner's first Trek film. It was released in 1979.

15 years later, Shatner made his last Trek film appearance, in 1994's Generations.

Star Trek is slated for May 2009, another 15 years later.



It's hard to believe that as many years have past between TMP and Generations as have passed between Generations and Trek XI.

Anyone agree?

Agree entirely. Under normal circumstances I'd trot out the old line about how time flies when you're having fun, but since I've had a pretty crappy year along with most of the world, I'll keep quiet. Actually, time flies when you're an adult which probably explains it.

Thanks for reminding me about Generations. I always used to watch it at Christmas for some reason, but have lapsed in recent years. I find certain parts of it very warm and comforting, which is something I need at the moment.

Yeah, those two time periods don't really seem congruent, if that's the right word. It obviously looks like alonger time between TMP and Generations.

Sometimes when I look at TMP and I think of how it was only 10 years after ＴＯＳ。

When young I was told by an old man that time goes faster as you age. I now understand and I think it is because a span of given time is a lower percentage of the overall life lived so far. A year back when 10yrs old was LONG.......now it feels quick......

Well TMP is BC (before cultcross) so it doesn't seem strange for it to be old now, but Generations I saw at the cinema and is a perfectly clear memory as if it happened last year. That it was 15 years ago is fairly scary.

Whoa, 15 years since Generations..... I was 4 when i saw the movie in the theater, don't remember the experience to the finest detail, but it was the only time I remember my dad being present. Yeah it didn't FEEL like 15 years it's almost like a flash, like I'm on autopilot.

AKA generations was my first Trek experience. In a way even though I'm not even 20 yet the thought alone still makes me feel older. Maybe the thought of the passage of time just makes us feel older then what we actually are.

I disagree, Trek is for those with an open heart, one open for the optamistic message of Trek.
