Walking Dead Season 5 Episodes (No Spoilers)

IMDB shows 8, so it's a good bet it's been announced somewhere that it will be the new norm (as with S3 and S4) 8 starting around Halloween and then a hiatus until February for another 8
Thanks! They also mentioned on The Talking Dead last night that Season 5 will be 16 episodes!

Yes, and Hardwick asked if they looked at fan reaction to the first 8 while working on the second 8. Scott Gimple replied that he has a vision for all 16 and didn't seem to indicate there was much deviation from it. I have to say, I hope he isn't influenced. It's always a Catch-22, if the showrunner goes ahead without making changes based on fan reaction, fans complain that the show doesn't care about them (but the creator maintains some integrity). If they do make changes, the fans complain that they must have "bowed to pressure," then complain about the changes, all the while, the showrunner's creative integrity is damaged a little.
That's not to say that their vision is always right and the fans are always wrong. I just come at it from a viewpoint that people will complain either way, so why not go with your initial creative vision?

But they were aware of rumors because both Gimplel and Hurd laughed about some, so maybe they do pay a certain amount of attention to the fans. Maybe not enough to change any story lines. I like that the show differs from the comic books so nothing is carved in stone. Sounds like the new season starts off with a bang. I can't wait!
But if you don't understand the fans, then you'll lose a lot of the excitement & momentum that made you popular.
Now, if they want to do something dramatic, yet keep the fans happy (generally) -- kill off Rick. That will PROVE that ANYONE can die on the show. Darryl & Michonne fans will be on the edge of their seat whenever they're in danger.
There is no way to please all the fans so they won't bother to listen to individuals. they are making the show that they want to make, as they should.
Did anyone else watch Inside The Walking Dead earlier this week (I can't remember what night it was)? I thought it was a nice BTS special for the show. There might be at least one more, because I saw something about another Inside the Walking Dead thing about the Walker Academy, but I'm not sure if that was just an online extra, or a whole other episode.
