How will CBS be using VR for marketing Star Trek DSC?
March 14, 2017 is the release date for 'Star Trek: Bridge Crew' VR game which is set in the Kelvin timeline and unrelated to DSC.
March 10-19, 2017 is when the South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference & Festival (the convergence of the interactive, film, and music industries) and new technologies are shown off. Will CBS use this to create a VR experience from Star Trek sets to help market DSC?
Probably a mix of 360-degree video from the DSC set and some all CGI.
Maybe something involving a plot point as it was effective recently for a Westworld VR experience at NY ComicCon:
Will they have something like this at San Diego Comic Con in July for DSC season 2?

http://knowledge.wharton.upenn.edu/article/entering-westworld-vr-marketing-new-york-comic-con/The Westworld simulation plays out over three brief tableaux. It begins with you entering a room where you select your weapon and decide whether you want to wear a white or a black hat. The simulation closely follows the scene in episode 2 of the program where new Westworld guest William (Jimmi Simpson) is presented with a similar set of choices. (When I went through the virtual experience, I hadn’t yet seen this episode. When I finally watched it, it gave me an eerie sense of déjà vu.)
