Did you like them or not?

A lot of people seem to either love them or hate them.
I'm more a lover of it, thought they were a great addition and when I first saw the armour being deployed it was a WOW moment for me.

So what's your take?

I'm option three: didn't care.

I'm sort of like this. It's not that I didn't care, but I could take them or leave them. They made the episode fun to watch and opened up some storytelling opportunities for the future, but then again, it probably would have been more rewarding to see them really EARN their homecoming through their own brilliance and hard work. I know they worked hard for seven years, but still ...

Voted 'hated them' not so much because I hated them but the whole thing was a bit of a cheat and as kes7 says they worked hard to get home and the Admiral's presents kinda robbed the crew of all their merit and reduced our other characters to filler in the last episode.
[And as kimc says they are just a torpedo so why come up with it - never mind the whole why have the going back in time blah, blah thing.]
the other thing is, that with Voyager coming home with so much technology from the Borg and the future it kinda made it harder for a follow up series to continue that level of technology and still have a credible threat posed by an enemy.

Pretty much my thoughts as well. God-Mode Voyager was a bit much, as cool as it was.

well i loved them if ..... and i mean if the federation locks them up when voyager returns to earth its way to op for this timeline

Noncanonly they did, for a time, but with the events of Destiny the Transphasic Torpedoes were put on frontline starships.

They were pretty cool, IMO. I didn't mind them at all - made for some good action scenes and nice visuals. I'm unsure as to whether or not Starfleet got its hands on them and integrated them into the fleet afterward - maybe, maybe not. No way to know for sure. The Enterprise-E in Nemesis didn't seem to have 'em.

I've argued for some time that the Federation would be stupid not to implement them in their entire fleet but I've had a change of heart.

Imagine what would have happened had Voyager got home a little earlier with that kind of technology, the Dominion War would have been over with within a week or less.
What about if the Federation fleet had those weapons prior to the Dominion War?? I would imagine the Dominion would have got their hands on the technology somehow and come up with defences and offences against it.

The Federation would be wise to keep the technology Voyager brought back as an 'ace up their sleeve' incase another advanced civilisation decided they wanted a war. Keeping the tech secret and unimplemented leaves the Federation with a last line of defence, the ability to in the event of foreseen failure deploy the secret weaponry and ensure victory.
By keeping it secret and unimplemented it ensures that the tech is not known about and therefore never obtained by the enemy.

Maybe the Transphasic Torpedoes were only effective against Borg vessels?
The way I always assumed they worked is by phasing right through shields and hulls and detonating a simple photon torpedo warhead from inside the ship. Megatons of gamma radiation do a whole lot more damage from inside than from outside - enough to destroy just about any ship you care to name.

Visual I do agree with the OP that it did look cool. Plot wise I have to agree with what kes7 and others have said and I can't say I was that upset they didn't reappear in Nemesis.

Especially if it goes straight for the warp core.

I didn't like it. It looked silly and cheap. I just couldn't imagine an armor system being deployed like that. It looked like something from the overdone and outrageous Batman movies.

I think the idea was that the armour was "replicated" into place around the ship. At least Voyager had replicators to begin with - what's Batman's excuse?

Sure... though probably unnecessary.
