Voyager book “Unworthy” two Kindle versions?

I’m looking to buy Unworthy and for some reason on Amazon UK there seem to be two versions. One is more expensive but has more reviews, the other is cheaper but only has three reviews.

Obviously I’m looking to buy the cheaper version but just wanted to make sure I’m not buying the wrong version etc.

They should be the same. But I see that the 4.99 one has 320 pages, while the 10.49 has 386.

But I went directly to Simon & Schusters UK website, and they list both versions on there as well! I would say that both are the English version, but why they have 2 ebook versions??????

I'll have to check my physical copy, but on S&S UK the print version is listed at 384, which might indicate the 10.49 version.

Good call. The printed version has the 384 page count so looks like I’ll have to pay the extra. Very weird.

I don't know if that's really reliable, a lot of the e-books I've got have a different page count from the paperback version.

For what it's worth, the ISBN on the more expensive version matches the only ISBN sold here in Canada.

Also, I don't know if this matters at all in the Kindle ecosystem, but according to the UK Kobo site, the expensive version is sold DRM-free (which is what I understood all Star Trek books to be these days), whereas the cheaper version is listed as having Adobe DRM.

I think I'm gonna just risk the cheaper version. I really don't wanna spend £10 on a kindle book.

Did Unworthy get a new printing in trade paperback format (the print on demand sort)? That could explain a second book with a lower page count.

But why would S&S UK have 2 files for sale then? Usually when a Trek book gets reprinted in trade paperback, then the price goes up for the e-book version, but S&S (at least in North America) doesn't put a second file up.

Someone apparently messed up and added a new ebook version, instead of just upping the price on the old one.

Well I flew through the book anyway and really enjoyed it. Obviously I can’t compare the two but it didn’t feel incomplete or cut. I did noticed a few mistakes though.

Looking forward to moving onto the next book now. Usually I take a break in between Star Trek books to another genre but I feel the need to carry on with Voyager’s story!
