VOY Concept Art and more

Thank you two for sharing these!

I’m really glad for the Voyager we got.
Eaglemoss produced the penultimate Voyager as model, NCC-73602. An RPG that had lost its licence posited that this design was the unseen Bradbury class from TNG, which I think is a cool way to sneak that ship type into the Trek universe.

In STO, this design inspired the Pathfinder class, a successor design to the Intrepid class.

The USS Altair was based on a Doug Drexler idea for Voyager, and it’s nacelles later ended up on the Enterprise-J. Waste not, want not.

The fins are amazing - something truly different from a Starfleet ship rather than the warp nacelles just going up a bit!

I suppose when a landing capability was added to the list of requirements that would have put paid to the fins.

I don't really like the Voyager design but it's better than these. An updated Oberth could have been fun for fans but would have looked very unrealistic in all those fight scenes Voyager was in and the other designs would be cool as alien ships but would have rightly sent the not my Trek people into overload.

God I wish they had given us Nova class as Voyager

Jim Martin is an incredible addition to Star Trek; his style was soooooo Star Trek or least he understood what Star Trek was supposed to look like. I miss his visual sense of the world.

The 'almost' Voyager NCC-73602 is wonderful - it's got a more blocky, utilitarian, workmanlike feel to it than the final design (which I also love).

I can't get onboard with using the runabout wings virtually unchanged though...
