quick question...I can't remember from the last season...is the winner of the season finale avatar the template for the episode avatar winners for the next season.

For example, if my avatar of the Dauntless wins, does that become the template that will be used when creating "winner" avatars, just like the picture of Voyager and the Borg Cubes from the Scorpion contest ?

Normally, yeah, but since some entries are animated and some aren't, and I have to have non-animated avatars to be trophies, the next contest winner will be the trophy template.

In related news, I've gone through all of the fourth season contests, and have the list of all the themes for the "Best of..." contest.
