Vince Gilligan and Star Trek

CBS should tap Vince to bring Trek back to TV. I think he would do an awesome job and he is very adept at managing an ensemble cast. Hell throw Bryan Cranston in as the lead actor and it might even be a hit on network TV.

Gilligan is a very gifted writer/creator, so I wouldn't mind that. I've heard before that Bryan Cranston should be the new Star Trek captain, but wouldn't he be the most aggressive un-federation like captain? And if he has a stand off in space with Klingons/Romulans/Borg would he shout at them "Say my name!" ? But he can play characters with a deep inner life so he would be awesome for any Star Trek role.

I like the idea of Vince Gilligan helping nurse Star Trek back to television.

Bryan Cranston as Captain would be too-good-too-be-true, but a MONUMENTAL coup if they could get him.

He's got the acting cred and Emmy gold. The man has great range as an actor.

I'd be all for it. Gilligan was a writer on the X Files, so he knows sci fi territory.

He'd bring the cred that the series needs.

Cranston would be absolutely fantastic as a Starfleet captain

Of all the recent ideas about making a new series lately, THIS one I find most appealing. I do feel, though, it would be too good to be true. I think too many people would expect Cranston to go all Heisenberg on any adversary who came around, but he's certainly a good enough actor, though, to quickly dispel such pre-conceptions once they got rolling. A nice dream, but sadly, highly unlikely.

People can only think of Bryan as Heisenberg.

He became famous to mainstream audience thanks to Malcom In The Middle.
And as for starship command... he played a Ranger in command of a Whitestar in Babylon 5.

This guy can do more than just Heisenberg you know?
