VIDEO GAMES LIVE | Civilization IV | PBS

Yeah, the full thing is airing in a couple of weeks. I'm definitely looking forward to buying the DVD whenever they put it out.

Ditto. I've been to 3 VGL concerts. Both times in Winnipeg (counting both nights of the last one as one), and once in Vancouver and enjoyed every single moment of them. Even the disappointment when they do FF7 for the encore instead of FF6. :p

As a note to all reading this thread, if Video Games Live is in your area, go! It's a great experience.

Hah, yeah, I'd love a FF6 finale as well... but One Winged Angel is hot with the "kids".

They did an open air free concert in TO a couple of years back but I missed it. Doh.

/\ Last time they were here, they did Chrono Trigger/Cross for the final encore (which they recently added to the lineup apparently). I damn near jumped out of my chair in excitement when they said that.

It's too bad they can't get Square Enix to let them do videos of FF and Chrono during the music though...

Yeah, because they have their own concert series. The only problem with that is that it only tours occasionally and the one time it was here I decided to skip it.

Well, the Final Fantasy one (Distant Worlds) is coming by Toronto in November. I already picked up a ticket for that since it's unlikely it's going to come to Winnipeg in the near (or distant) future. But then, I thought that about VGL. :p

Wow, no way? Cheers, I'm going to grab a ticket when I'm in town. Too bad I don't know anyone locally who would be willing to spend 120 bucks for a ticket.

Hah, are you paying for the Uematsu meet and greet? I don't even have any thing I would get him to sign.

Yeah, I saw that. They don't really say what the meet and greet actually entails... and ticketmaster is bleh. But I guess they don't have an actual box office if the theatre doesn't open until October.

Cheap seats are 30+ bucks which I guess is better... but I figure it's going to be a once in a blue moon event.

/\ Wow, you were pretty close to him! I was about 6 or 7 rows behind and over on the right side (facing the stage). It was a pretty cool concert and I'm glad they did the FF6 opera. :techman:

a) The VGL BD disc is fun and definitely worth picking up.
Good to know.

Yeah, it's a good alternative to seeing it live. Although it's very Blizzard heavy, but I guess that makes sense.

Oh yeah, I think they left out FF4 during the concert. At least I can't remember a FF4 piece being performed anyway...

Baba Yetu might be one of the more epic-sounding songs ever. Some of Christopher Tin's other music has a little too much of a Disney quality to it, but it's still an epic song.

Hrm... I haven't heard Tin's concept album based on Baba Yetu. But yeah, the duet version that they had was brilliant - I think I like it more than the solo version.

I rather like Tin's album, but it does feel a bit... Disney-ish at times. There is some good stuff on there though, but none of it matches Baba Yetu.

Anyway, I ordered the Blu-ray. I had free tickets to the VGL performance in Edmonton a few years ago and I didn't go because I was sick and then later found out that Faunts was there and performed M4 Part 2 live. Still kicking myself for not going!
