Victoria Jennifer Johnson (The Ladies' Thread)

It's been a long time since we had a thread devoted to the gentle sex, and I feel like bitching about my swollen breasts and cramps. I've always found the girlie threads to be surprisingly informative and interesting. I learned about environmentally sound hygiene products (though I can't bring myself to use them), how to make enamel stick to my nails for over a month, and oh so much more, all from fellow female Trekkies. So ladies, have at it.

I start a ladies' thread and what do I get? Three men responding! At least Captain Ice has an avatar of chocolate cake, which is a start.

Couple of capsules of evening primrose a day help me with the physical discomforts.

And I find it freaky that I am in tune with the moon cycle! I guess we're all just sacks of water responding to cosmic processes. :D

^ Is that chocolate or Red Velvet cake? I had to ask...

Sorry-- I will now back out to make way for the ladies......

Jeez... more men than women in this thread

Evening Primrose made me climb the walls, don't know why - but I'm not risking trying it again!

Midol PMS is the only stuff that works for me, but them most of my menstrual problems are emotional reactions rather than physical.

Does anyone else get a mid-cycle burst of PMS? I do - luckily the Midol works there too. I'm just wondering if it's common or if I should blame my sister for psychically screwing with my cycle

Yes, who is VJJ? ;)

Man do I hate that term.
Ugh, I'd never use such a phrase! ;)

Back to the lady stuff, have any of you ladies ever experienced changes in your cycle due to living with some one going through menopause? I am in Seattle right now, helping my mother out while she recovers from surgery. She has also been menstruating for five months straight -- her doctor, unfortunately confirming that it is an unlucky manifestation of the change. I dunno if it's a wacky idea, but I wonder if my mother could be causing my sore breasts and painful cramps? I always sync to other women -- they never sync to me. I wonder if it could be her wacky hormones wacky-ing me out?

I've seriously never experienced a period like this before: pain meds barely take the edge off the cramps and my boobs hurt so much I can't lay on my stomach to go to sleep!

Honestly though, it's a childish phrase. I can't take a grown woman seriously if she refers to her parts as her Vajayjay.
Yes, it's awfully twee. But no worse that the multitude of nicknames men give to their, uh, man-parts. Willie? John Thomas? Trouser snake? One-eyed monster? Little soldier?

Oh, sorry -- this is supposed to be for ladies only. I'll come back wearing a dress.

It's not exactly PMS, but I've been known to get all wound up emotionally and not sleep well around the middle of my cycle.

Then again, 30 days is a SHORT cycle, for me, so I think everything in me is exaggerated a bit.

And yes, someone else's hormones can affect your cycles. I know my cycles were shorter and a bit more regulated when I worked in a job where I was around the same women every day. Left to my own devices, it goes back to its normal 30-35 days.
