Veteran's Day

To those of you on this website who live in the United States, today is Veteran's Day. If you have a friend, or relative, or just know somebody who was in the military, just thank them for all they have done.

Thank you, thank you everyone. During the height of the Vietnam War I was in the Coast Guard, in NYC, whereupon I helped to ensure the business viability of prostitution and 24 hour bars in lower Manhattan. It was a difficult time in my life, as service pay wasn't a whole lot, but helping all those poor women and 24 hour pizza joints and bars called to me and I answered. :)

A heartfelt thank you, and a ceremonial hoisting of the brewskis, to all veterans.

Including these personal ones:

- my dad, who served in the Army Medical Corps
- one of his uncles, who fought in World War II
- one of MY uncles, who did not (AFAIK) serve in wartime, but served nonetheless
- my cousin-in-law, the Marine who served two tours in Afghanistan

I guess that I should say thanks to my relatives that were in the military:
-my grandfather on my mother's side, was in the Marines in World War II
-his two brothers, were in the Navy during World War II
-my grandfather, on my father's side, was in the Air Force in the Korean War
-my uncle, who was in the Army in the Vietnam War

We all know someone by family or friend who served. God bless every single one of them and thank you.

Semper Paratus, shipmate! USCG '88-'93

^USN, same time frame!

All veterans, whatever you did, peacetime or war, wherever you served, whatever you're doing now, whoever you vote for, thanks. And those who never came home, we cannot repay, but will remember.

After coming from the election thread, I am glad to see people who may have differing opinions find a common ground here.

Also, since this is a Star Trek website, I'm trying to think of people related to franchise who were in the military at some point. This is what I got:
-Gene Roddenberry
-James Doohan
-DeForest Kelley
-Leonard Nimoy

Obviously, there are others, but those are some that I came up with.
