Looks like we are about mid-way through the first half of the season.
"Return to Malice"
Number 21 kidnaps the Venture brothers without Monarch's knowledge or consent, resulting in Sgt. Hatred having to storm his former hometown of Malice to rescue his charges.

Supposedly, the episode will feature a return of Brock and Triana.

In case you miss it, the episode hasn't been loaded online, yet. It is usually posted by Monday morning at the official Venture Bros. website.

I for one really dug it. I laughed more at this ep than all S4 eps combined....No Brock or Triana tho....But lots of Monarch, Sgt. Hatred and 21 goodness. Sgt. Hatred has really grown on me, if this keeps up, I might get used to it so that when Brock comes back, he'll feel like a stranger. I guess that's the thing about change for me...I'm not leary of change because it's new or different...I'm leary of change because I know I'll adapt and come to appreciate the new on it's own terms and merits.

I liked it too. It had some mystery to it as well. Plus not all henchmen are dumb.

I thought there were some hilarious parts and some just good parts throughout the whole thing.

Best one of the season; almost one of the best of the last 2 seasons.

Not really one of the normal action episodes and not a lot of the over the top crazy stuff, just a good solid character piece with the humor flowing from the "normal" hum-drum day to day lives of these people.

Favorite moments:
When Rusty and Dr. Girlfriend are hanging out at the old observatory just shooting the breeze and laughing at their lives like a couple of old friends.

The Monarch and 21 facing off "to use a word" over 21, more or less, taking over the Cocoon. And the Monarch revealing a bit behind his personality: He hates everything, but most of all himself.

And it ends with a massive question mark at the end, which I think is setting up the season finals(s).

Didn't do too much for me, maybe because Hank and/or Dean being kidnapped is so routine.

Will we ever see Hatred's wife?

Shouldn't Sgt. Hatred be the one who hates everything?

I did like it when Monarch threatened the moppets.

^yeah, looks like he can reign the moppets in, it's interesting to see that 21 has actualy become somewhat of a competent henchman, even if he IS insane

21 has become comic book guy crossed with Frank Grimes, to used a Simpson's Reference.

24's Skull is quite creepy, I wonder why Dr. O could not have resurrected 24..... Maybe Dr. O and Dr. Venture could do it if they worked together to do it.....

Doctor Venture could clone a body and Dr. O could find his soul and place it into his newly cloned body, but that is fan speculation.

I assumed from the season premiere that the reason Dr. Venture doesn't clone 24 is that, from his perspective, 21 didn't pay him enough. All he got was a "worthless" comic book that Dr. V apparently didn't even care enough about to look up its value. Perhaps had he known how much $$$ he was sitting on, he'd have delivered a bouncing baby 24 for 21 to raise as his own...

It is 24's fault as he should have sold the book and gave Venture the cold hard cash.....

A pretty good episode..but it didn't answer the main question..who did set off the bomb that killed 24 and injured Brock?..All the principle characters were accounted for when the button was pushed so who could have done it?

Plus did someone move 24's skull at the end of the episode or was it just part of 21's madness?

Best episode of the season by far. Although, I thought the end was a little anti-climatic. It just kinda...ended. Also, I the whole Princess Tiny Feet seemed tacked on.

That being said, the episode had a lot of good. I love the fact that 21 is losing it, but at the same time, it is turning him into the perfect henchman.

And the Monarch is always great.

Will we ever see Hatred's wife?

We have in "Showdown at Cremation Creek".

Remember that the pen checked off Hank and Dean from the revenge list. Maybe 24 is a ghost now.
And the skull appears to move earlier in the episode: In one shot, it's facing forward towards the bed, then the next, when 21's back is to it, it's facing towards the desk while teh chair hasn't moved.

I noticed that too. I wonder how much of that was intentional or if it was just an animation "goof".

Goof or not, they'll use it as a "clue" when the time comes

I wouldn't put it past them. :p

Rated it Above Average. Maykes me feel that since they've done some pretty stand-alone episodes with little effort to move things along and solve mysteries, that in the last few episodes things will come at a break-neck speed, probably leaving us with more questions than answers too.

Monarch minions kidnap Hank and Dean? Oh man, this was the most original episode ever!!! But seriously I'm afraid this marks two average episodes in a row for me. Last year it felt like there was a story building with every episode, the revelations about Venture Senior. This year, they're not building towards anything. So of the four, I've only really loved #2 with Captain Sunshine.

You are kidding, right? The whole episode seemed to be a set-up of something to come.

Last season, they really didn't build towards anything, but focused their attention with flashback-type episodes.
