Greetings, everyone. I hope all is going well for each of you.
In real life, I am a 61-year-old human, but I have played the role of a "Vulcan Engineer," here, so I hope you will permit me to finish out as such with these last few paragraphs of my farewell to this website.
It seems that the moment I have long dreaded--when I have ceased to make useful contributions to this site--has arrived. It is time for me to step aside and let younger heroes rush off on their adventures. I will cling to the side of the corridor, so I don't get trampled in the stampede!
I hereby submit my resignation as a Starfleet officer and will return to civilian life. After outprocessing, I will take a shuttle back to ShiKahr, my home on Vulcan, and warm up again. (Federation starships tend to be set cooler than my tastes.)
After a few days with family and friends, catching up on things, I will contact various schools and institutions, to see if anyone wishes to utilize my talents and experience. Meanwhile, I will converse with friends and engage in small projects, to keep busy.
It has been a great honor for me to have been welcomed here on The Trek BBS website, replete with brilliant minds and fascinating celebrities. I will always remember my good friends and the exciting times experienced here! Thank you for giving me these opportunities.
To everyone I say auf Wiedersehen, a bientot, vaya con Dios and, as Red Skelton always used to say, "Good night, and may God bless" you. Live long, and prosper.
Your friend,
Varek
