Vampire: The Madquerade - Bloodlines

Boomstick

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
Anyone played this gem?

I've just got around to it recently and it's pretty great. There's a lot of character customisation and all the missions have multiple strategies you could employ.

I jumped out my skin playing the haunted hotel mission in bed last night, waking my girlfriend up who was getting up early for a job interview. Needless to say "I saw a ghost on this vampire game" didn't sate anything.

It is incredibly popular (and for good reasons) with the hardcore cRPG crowd.

In some ways it has not aged very well (including some issues with sexism), but it is still a seminal RPG.

On subsequent playthroughs I just mute the sound (which contributes about 75% of the creepiness) and rush through it. Although my personal scariest game experience is still Shalebridge Cradle in Thief 3. *shudder*

But yeah, fantastic game with lots of replayability due to the different clan abilities. Finally did a full Malkavian playthrough earlier this year. :techman:

Enjoyed it very much back in the day. I haven't tried it with mods or even most of the patches yet but I generally had the most fun playing as a Malkavian.

I'm really enjoying it, currently investigating the apparent snuff film in Hollywood.
Personally I think it has aged quite well, or maybe I'm just old. A lot of RPGs out there now look pretty, but you really don't have that much control over character development and the like. I got a big shock when I finally got around to Legend of Grimrock recently and you couldn't get to far by evenly spreading your stats.

I see what you're saying about the issues with sexism, it's not the worst example I've seen. Unfortunately a lot of games, even important classics have a pretty juvenile attitude toward women.

If you're gonna get it, get it on GOG because their version comes automatically with the unofficial patch that fixes a lot of issues with the game.

I should really try this game ! I loooove Vampires : The Masquerade as a table RPG ! Can't get enough of it !! So I'm sure I'd love the video game version ^^
