Valve opens up to Macs

The Fatman

I didn't see any threads for this, so I thought I'd put it here for the handful of people who have a Mac.

I'm surprised this hasn't happened much sooner, to be honest. I expected day and date Mac support for games to happen not long after the switch to Intel processors... but I guess the market share wasn't big enough to justify the extra dev cost for most companies.

Now, though, with Blizzard, EA, and Valve all supporting Mac I think there won't be a reason for me to keep my WinXP boot camp partition around much longer. Yay!

Fascinating. I had thought that the ability to run Windows on a Mac was what would finally kill the Mac gaming market, but this suggests it might not go that way.

It's a respectably ambitious step, at the least.

I think I'm finally going to have to get into the Half-life games. Starting from the original, of course.

^^ I'm not the most impartial of judges, as I pretty well hate playing from the first person perspective, but I was not impressed by Half-life or HL2.

Portal is pretty interesting, however.

On the other hand, I think Half-Life is one of the greatest gaming series of all time. It's well worth checking out, and pretty revolutionary (especially the original).

^^ I apologize. That thread title is a little...vague...though.
