Valeyard - paradox?

The Valeyard is a neat idea, but for an ongoing franchise will never come to pass. There's too much money to make for the Doctor to turn evil or go bottoms up in a grave.

You're assuming the Valeyard will be a regular/ongoing character that will replace the Doctor.

I'm picking the Valeyard will be a split personality character who will disappear into the vortex and show up later on every now and then.

Think The Master 2.0.

Define "evil".

He'll still save worlds from Dalek Invasions, it's just rather than bumbling around, the Valeyard will be using nuclear weapons and not become so distraught about any collateral damage... So what if a Village of savages (London 1972.) has to be scarified if he can purge a Dalek foothold?

Trial of a Time Lord saw us a Master vs. Valeyard fight.

They still fight.

Difference is that they fight while the Master is running.

In my fervent opinion, the Brigadier would have gotten along with the Valeyard a lot better than he did with Three.

Which genocide?

(I assume there's more than one.)

I'm thinking about the Silurians.

Three had a grumpy face at the end and then drove off.

Then there was a reset button, or massive period of time passed off camera.

It would have been nice to see that grumpy face persist.

There's a Nicholas Courtney "read" Companion Chronicles set right after the Silurians where the Doctor and the Brigadier are still at odds after he murdered all those "people" and they're working through their issues.

Never seen that - yeah I was thinking of the Silurians - yes they late change it so it is a settlement but as written and as delivered, the Brig wipes out the whole race in that episode.

And the writers guide for the McCoy era novels said it was in the ancient past, as the original Time Lords were future humans who escaped the end of the universe by setting up a base in the distant past, in the process influencing the entire universe (by the anthropomorphic principle) to make species who look like Time Lords so common.

Take your pick!

Do you have a link to this? It sounds fascinating.

Yeah but the point is that the Doctor was NOT happy to go along with it. The Brigadier did it behind the Doctor's back and pissed the Doctor off big time.

Thanks for narrowing the point, but I don't even expect an episode or two. At most, something like the Dream Lord will come along. Brief, and angsty, but nothing that will be unequivocally the Doctor.

But he still works with him in the following episode regardless of how unhappy he appears to be - that's the problem with the 'UNIT era', the Doctor becomes an establishment lackey.

Day of the Daleks.

"OOOOOOOOOOOHHHH! A laser gun! AHHHHHHHHHH!" Lethbridge cups his pride engorged manhood under the unionjack boxers Doris bought him for his birthday anticipating the euphoria of melting his enemies when... "OY! OY! OY! You blew up my laser gun! My pretty, beautiful, pretty lasergun... YOU BASTARD!"

"Sigh."

After the U.N.I.T. excavators excavate that stately mansion rubble for Dalek remains, they are not going to let the Doctor advise them on any further advanced alien weapons found therein for fear that he'll break more of their toys.
