V Returns

Poor Ken Johnson. He's been getting jerked around for years about a sequel and update and now its just gung ho without him.

My bet is that they pull a BSG - take the name and the barest whiff of the general premise and just run off in a whole new direction.

To be fair, would you really trust the director of Steel with your potential sci-fi franchise?

As for the reboot, I expect lots of heavy-handed comparisons to the war in Iraq... i.e., the Resistance are "insurgents" who commit "terrorist" acts to drive out the "occupying force" of the Visitors, etc.

Which is the best way to go, IMHO.

I think its the only way to go. The problem with V is that in the intervening years, other sci-fi stories have copied its format. Both Earth: Final Conflict and Independence Day have elements of the story.

Not only that, but the reveal of their "secret" is already known.

I'd like to see them steal Invasion's idea - to have a major character who thinks he's human and then finds out otherwise, or just adopts his human persona so completely that he can't really go back.
