USS "Fire Ant"

So one day while doodling in Driver's Education, I began doodle a design that had been floating around in my head for a while. It started out with an odd "W" shaped primary hull, which soon transformed into a pod with wings, then into a wedge with pods attached. It's a single (integrated) nacelle design, and I imagine as being from the Excelsior era, as a patrol or scout cruiser. The pods on the front would probably be hangar bays, and the protrusions in the rear of the primary hull would house the impulse engines. I imagine it as housing special defensive and offensive equipment, such as fighters etc.
I named the ship "Fire Ant" because the pods on the primary hull look like an insect's mandibles from certain angles.

I also thought it looked a bit Cardassian. Very interesting look so far, and I like the name. I imagine it would be a nightmare for crew members trying to give directions to places on the ship, though!

Thanks for the interest, guys! I may just embrace the Cardassianness more, because I'm not to happy with the engineering hull as it stands.
In any case, I've worked on the model some more: I added some basic texturing, the impulse engines, improved the deflector dish a bit, and added various windows and other bits and bobs.

I'm with the rest. Screw the Starfleet registry. Color it yellow and make it a Cardie ship.
