Spoilers USS Defiant Legacy

I'm not a fan of giving all these ship a letter after them except the Enterprise. It takes away how special the Enterprise is and has been to Star Trek. I love the design look for both the DS9 Defiant and Voyager and love DS9 as a show and like Voyager as a show but I still feel the Enterprise should be seen as something extra special.

When the BBC was making Warship each Leander class vessel used as HMS Hero was repainted as F42 (in reality the pennant number of HMS Phoebe, which was originally used as Hero). Apparently it massively confused Soviet intelligence as the same ship was in the Mediterranean one day and off Hong Kong soon after.

It makes you wonder why military forces don't do this more often. I mean, it was even used in the TOS novel Black Fire where Spock (secretly undercover) worked with a Romulan "pirate" called Desius (who greatly resembled him) and the pair dressed identically (with a hooded robe) and had their two light cruisers painted and adorned identically. Thus, when each ship raided a target only a few hours apart, it looked to Starfleet as if the ship must have a capability of Warp 14 (old scale).

I suspect real military intelligence agences might be confused momentarily but figure out pretty quickly that the paint was probably a lie.
