Usain Bolt

Can't see anyone beating him unless he gets DQ'd for false start or something. Don't know if he'll get another world record though, in the Olympics it seemed like he was much closer to his limit in the 200m than the 100m.

I think he could give them a head start in the 200m and still win with daylight between him and silver! The guy is simply in a class of his own.

9.58s, and you still feel he was not at pushing it right to the line. One wonders how fast he will go when he does.

Incredible! Tyson Gay is just about as fast as you could think for a human being, and Bolt just makes him look like he's standing still. He's a bit too cocky for my taste though.

If I was that much better at something than everyone else in the world I'd probably be cocky too.

19.19 for the 200m! Absolutely unbelievable. The guy is so much faster than any other human being, it seems unfair to the rest of the field. 4 other guys ran under 20secs yet looked as if the were in a differant race.

I agree with what the great Michael Johnson said after the race, this Usain Bolt has a sub-19 second 200m in him, it is just a matter of time.

Is the 200M online somewhere. Missed that one.

Bolt is insane. Love watching him run and just dominate his sport.

edit:

Just saw it. Man he was unreal.

Am I too critical for thinking that Bolt's behaviour (despite of course being spectacularly impressive) is somewhat unsportsmanlike? Why doesn't he just run as fast as he can and be done with it and then try to beat his own time?

If I were him, I'd also be worried that maybe I'm in the form of my life right now and will never be able to reach that level in the following years. I would want to put the best possible time on the record when I'm able to.

I think breaking both his own world records is 'trying to beat his own time' and 'running as fast as he can'. I think you object to the fact he's ebullient and loves to mug for the cameras. Most people like it. It beats furious faced athletes hands down.

No, I'm objecting to the fact that he didn't give it his best imo. He's behaving like Sergey Bubka, the Ukrainian pole vaulter who also was light years ahead of all his competitors, but always put the bar only a couple centimetres higher than before even though he knew he could probably get over it a metre higher and that way ended up with no less than 35 world records.

I don't know how beating your record is not trying, when we're talking about hundredths of seconds, not centimeters. However, I don't think he'll lose any sleep over your disapproval.
