US$2m RV/"Coach"

So I took a visit to the local RV and Boat show this evening, just to walk and satisfy my curiosity and there they had a $2 million RV.

That's right, a $2m motorhome!!!

Now, obviously, if you've got $2m to spend on a RV you've got more money than the average Rush Limbaugh listener and you have Mad Money on TiVo's season pass.

So I took a look at it, frankly, I wasn't impressed. I mean, sure, it was nice but there where other motorhomes at the event that were just as nice though, granted, not as spacious but the $2m one was that much bigger.

Only thing I can figure that makes it costs so much are the marble counter tops and high-quality wood paneling/"furniture" in it. Though I can't even see the thing being made of solid marble making it cost $2m so who knows, beyond me.

I was impressed with a cozy little sailboat. Made me wonder what it'd be like to be out on the sea in the thing, going below decks to the cabin and resting, rocking to sleep with the sea.

Sigh.

Someday, maybe.

Yeah, no shit or just upgrading/converting an existing RV from gas/diesel to biofuel & solar auxiliary systems.

Find me a motorhome that transforms in the sailboat, and I'll take it! :D

For $2m wouldn't you just be better off converting a bus?

Pretty much what it seemed like this thing was a big bus converted into an RV, though it has the slide-out rooms/sections. But it was as big as a full-sized Greyhound.
Actually thats a good thing. The RVs based on busses are easier to maintain / get parts for. The custom RVs...well with those you get locked into a lot of things for maintenance and technicians.

Well, not a sailboat, but about as close as you can get with an RV at the moment:

Hey Trekker, was this one below the one you saw, or is it different? Because this one is $2.5 million and comes with it's own little slide-under "garage" for a sports car. The interior is frickin' awesome:

Jeez, nice ground clearance. I hope there's not a tiny rock on the road or anything.

I agree, the interior for that one is kind of lackluster considering the price tag. It's not bad, but you're right that I've seen pretty much the same elsewhere.

I don't see the point in such vehicles either, I'd rather buy a cool luxury car and stay in a comfortable hotel. ;)

Yeah, doesn't look like much ground clearance. Perhaps it's on lifts or something and the body is lowered for easy access but when in "drive mode" the body is higher? But I doubt it is meant to be on anything else but asphalt.

There's a guy at the local RV Park who drives a $2m dollar motorhome. I have to agree with Trekker, I don't see where they're worth it.

I think it's in materials. Imported marble, fine woods plus the rareity and that the people who make them probably only make a few a year so rareity probably plays a part in it too.

But, seriously, as I walked into this $2m RV I expected something... "more."

It just didn't blow my skirt up.

:wtf: I didn't know you were a cross dresser. ;)

Yeah, I think it's in the amenities, I don't think I could or would pay that much for an RV let alone a house
