UPN

Does anybody have anybody have any memories of the United Paramount Network, better known as UPN? I know Star Trek: Voyager was one of its biggest hits (even then its ratings weren't that great when compared the programs on the other networks). I was only 8 years old when UPN was shut down and was replaced by The CW.

UPN? That's memories I'm trying to repress, actually.

Especially since it was their fault that Voyager was so watered-down.

The only thing I remember about UPN is that is where I used to watch Voyager and Enterprise. I was 25 when Voyager started, and 31 when Enterprise started.

I have no idea when it became CW.

I actually used to look forward to watching "Nowhere Man" after VOY. To my thirteen-year-old mind, the conspiracy stuff seemed absolutely brilliant.

Platypus Man and Moesha will live on forever in my mind thanks to commercials during Voyager. Nowhere Man too. Oh, and Homeboys in Outer Space...

The only two shows I remember at UPN's launch other than Voyager was Legend and Nowhere Man. Legend was decent and it had DeLancie.

I remember it. It had decent logos and promos, but most importantly it offered an alternative to the other stations, especially re-runs. Unfortunately it became the home of terrible original series and for some reason wanted to the home of sitcoms starring all-black leads, as if I were watching BET 2 (this was carried over to CW; when the change occured, the network got worse).

I tuned in for two reasons: Voyager (with rabbit ears, it's not like there was a lot to choose from back then) and "Seven Days".

If "Nowhere Man" came from UPN, then that was one good thing the network did right, even though in the end they did wrong and cancelled it. The other thing it did right was "Seven Days". 7D was well done and ran for like three seasons, but unfortunately bickering between the "love" interests and lose of cast, coupled with no arcs or direction, kind of did it in. The beauty about a show like 7D is that it could be picked back up, epsecially since sicence fiction is hit right now

"Legend" was okay and certainly could have ran longer, but it needed some work and DeLancie 's acting was very lacking.

I think it was either UPN or CW that picked up "Buffy the Vamprie Slayer" after cancellation. Perhaps the smartest move they made. Unfortunately their smart moves barely filled one hand.

All I remember is how poor the signal was. Even watching on cable.

UPN did Dilbert for a couple of seasons, and I thought it was funny enough, all things considered.

I can't recall watching anything at all on the WB network: I figured that one was a total disaster.

UPN had Everybody Hates Chris, which was a sitcom by Chris Rock about his childhood. I only watched the first season but it was fun.

Yeah, Nowhere Man was pretty good wasn't it? Despite being an obvious Fugitive rip-off. I picked up the DVD set a few years back and it's still a decent show.

I enjoyed Nowhere Man at the beginning but somewhere around halfway it was clear they had less idea where the hell they were going than Lost.

What I remember most is the commercials in which they would use the word "oopin" as a super cool way to pronounce UPN. The worst offender...

I think the only show I actually watched with regularity on UPN was America's Next Top Model (I hadn't discovered Trek yet).

I still sing the "lyrics" to Sanford and Son thanks to the pilot of Malcolm and Eddie. I think I watched an episode or two of Platypus Man. Not sure why.
