Upcoming Publications: October/November 2007

Yeah. No problem. I like finding this kind of stuff and sharing it with you guys.

Yeah, I think you could. It makes a passing reference to Resistance, but doesn't reveal any details you wouldn't have already figured out (like, for instance, that the Borg are featured).

Loved the little snippet of Before Dishonor, reminds me of how much I still don't like Jellico. Makes me wonder how Calhoun in the New Frontier series can get along with him now.

Oh, that's right I forgot that they are like best buddies now. Hopefully we'll get the story behind that somewhere along the line.

Of course! That was one of the new mysteries deliberately introduced by PAD when he jumped the story of NF ahead three years!

I know it's not up here yet. But I figured I'd let everyone know that the official description for Sword of Damocles is up on the S&S Trek page now.
I'm sorry, I just didn't really want to star another thread since I already have 2 up, and this seemed like the best place to put this.

Here it is:
Fate: It is an idea as old as life itself. Do our choices shape the future, or is it the other way around? And if the path we walk is predestined -- if the way we are to meet our end is knowable -- what might that knowledge compel us to do?

Titan 's travels take it to a world at the edge of reason. Orisha is a planet whose people have lived for centuries beneath an unfathomable celestial body in their sky. From the moment it first appeared, the object was thought to be something unnatural, an ill omen that has made them feel watched, exposed, vulnerable -- provoking a primal fear that has steered the course of their civilization. The Orishans call it "the Eye," and because it has consistently defied every scientific attempt to decode its true nature, many are convinced it represents an intelligence that is studying their world...and perhaps waiting to destroy it.

But the secret behind the Eye threatens Titan as well as Orisha...and it holds a special meaning for one member of Captain Riker's crew in particular, whose lifelong quest to balance faith and scientific truth is tested against the harsh, unblinking glare of inevitability.

This certainly souds pretty good to me. I'm very curious who this crew member is that it is talking about.

I'm guessing Jaza since he's always said there's no reason faith and science can't live side by side.

There is an extract from this book in the latest issue of the Star Trek Magazine.

I must confess I only glanced at it but there were also drawings of people surrounding the piece. Anyone know who they are meant to be?

Pages 54-55 have a dark-skinned man with a Bajoran nose. And Deanna Troi.

Pages 56-57 feature Riker and another still of the dark-skinned man with a Bajoran nose.

Presumably, since he's the focus of the extract, this is Jaza Najem, the ship's male Bajoran chief science officer. Originally serving in the Bajoran Militia, he entered Starfleet when Bajor joined the Federation in 2376.

and is said to have coffee-coloured skin in TTN #1 and #2

i finally got Resistance Saturday. 's good. not at all deserving of the 1-star 'stinker' review SFX gave it...
