I was checking out PAD's website and found a link to pre order his upcoming New Frontier novel. Being a massive NF fan, I'm pretty psyched about it. A release date of May 2015 is listed, but I'm braced for this to get pushed back, as I've heard so little about it. It's listed as "Untitled" by Peter David, but I followed the link from PAD's site which labeled this as the next NF book, so hopefully it's good. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1476795851/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Ah, and it's from Gallery, so trade PB size. 6.1 x 9.1 inches. Yes, PAD announced at Shore Leave that he had, indeed, signed a contract.
So... exactly as it has been ever since NF went first-release-in-trade. And before that, first-release-in-hardcover. Or you could borrow from a friend, go to a public library, buy the eBook or read it in chunks in a bookstore coffee shop.
Yay! Great news. I've been putting off reading the last book because I hate the idea of the series being over.
As far as I remember, a bunch of them were released in just MMPB originally. I collect the MMPB's. The TPB versions are not my cup of tea. And thanks Therin...I had NO idea about other ways to read the book
The original ones were, but that was over a decade ago. They've been in hardcover or TPB for a long time.
Thanks guys. I know. I just don't like them. I was hoping for a return to the days of just the MMPB. I figured that with no new entries in the New Frontier line is a few years, that maybe the books didn't sell as well in multiple formats, so maybe they'd pare it down to just the MMPB this time. I figured this as, if it had been selling really well, then the Pocket editors wouldn't have waited so long to pursue PAD to write another book. I've survived waiting for the MMPB for the last bunch of NF entries, so I guess i'll survive this time too.
The first four were novelette-type things - and between those and the first NF hardcover (Restoration) there were 6 MMPB.
I was OK with the series being over, but I'm still glad to hear another is coming out and I look forward to reading it.
Pocket Books editor Margaret Clark has confirmed that the upcoming New Frontier eBook trilogy will pick up where the series left off. http://www.thetrekcollective.com/2015/01/books-bits-margaret-clark-teases-2015.html
Woah, woah, woah...when did this become an eBook trilogy? Amazon still has it listed as a paperback (which I pre-ordered it as). If this is an eBook only publication, I'll be very disappointed.
