    We've had some unexpected deaths

    -Captain Georgieau (Michelle Yeoh)
-Head of Security mauled by the Tardi

Personally, I'm hoping Saru bites it soon. Not holding out though. The writers seem to be really impressed with themselves for writing that character

Captain Georgiou's death was expected since her announcement.

It's not Star Trek unless the only people dying are red shirts.

Ahem, it's not ToS unless the only people dying are red shirts.

Everyone so far on Disco seems to have a blue in white shirt, in keeping with the aesthetic from ENT.

Everyone who has died so far was not part of the main cast, so it wasn't surprising at all. I don't see any of the main cast dying until near the back end of the series (say the last 1-2 episodes). Although the main cast only has six people, so too much turnover would be disruptive to the show. I think Tyler and Lorca are the most likely ones to die.

Characters I wouldn't mind being killed off: Michael Burnham, Tilly, Saru. It's been five episodes and I still couldn't care less about any of them. I liked the idea that Michael is going to be somewhat Vulcanish in behavior and that Saru is supposed to be an exotic alien, but I'm getting zero vibes of this from either of them. Wesley Crusher, on the other hand, was the least interesting character on TNG, I don't understand why they had to reincarnate him.

I say Dr. Culber gets it next. Lt. Stamets grieves while his mirror reflection tap dances.

They're doing a decent job of keeping us from connecting to any of the crew. They could kill off Lorca, Saru, and Michael in a single episode and it probably wouldn't hurt the ratings any.

I wouldn't be surprised to see of those gone by the end of the season:

    Vice Admiral Katrina Cornwell
    Dr. Hugh Culber
    Captain Gabriel Lorca
    L'Rell

    Ratings? Who cares about ratings?

Shove Saru out the airlock, keep Lorca, reanimate Landry, send Burnham to see a shrink, and start a few subtle ridges growing on Tyler's head.

I'm wondering just what form season two will take. I was once totally against the idea of an anthology, but I like the idea of a season 2 following Lorca as the main character of his new ship... after killing everyone on board Discovery as he did his last ship.

And then, halfway through the season, angry USS Discovery survivors show up.

I like it! While everyone thinks the show is about Starfleet’s first mutineer, it’s really about Starfleet’s first mass murderer slash serial killer!

I fear Stamets is a goner, and probably sooner rather than later. Three reasons: One, his insane decision this week. Two, he's in a relationship, so that will provide emotional fodder. Three, what are they going to do with a space fungus expert when the spore drive is no more?

I suspect they're going to Gary Mitchell him.

Lorca's also at risk, because Jason Isaacs has other stuff to do. Shame, because those are my two favorites so far.

Presuming you mean Tilly, there is next to no connection between the two characters apart from being young.

I don't know why, but I just don't like the Dr. I kinda hope Stamets kills 'em.

Yeah Landry's death was pretty unexpected, good writing as far as coming out of nowhere, mediocre writing as far as the actions making little sense.

I'm wondering if the mushroom network is going to connect to the TNG story with Wesley and the Traveller at some point. "We always thought Wes was a fun guy, but this is ridiculous." /Groucho
And apparently a genius, if last episode is anything to go by. But I still agree - they're different characters. And I actually like both, except Wesley could be a little whiny sometimes.

Well, smart, certainly. But then she's a Starfleet academy cadet posted to an important science vessel, she's likely to be bright. What she doesn't have is that annoying tendency of Wesley's to be better at every adult crew member's job than they were almost straight away, and spending his off time building tractor beams and the like. Plus she doesn't have that horrible faux-innocence thing that we saw in Justice.

You've always *assumed* it was faux, but as it turns out, we know now that he was doing shrooms. A LOT of shrooms. He not only didn't understand how those things worked but about a quarter of the time when he was off screen he couldn't find his own butt with two hands and a tricorder. ;)
