I have seen some bad calls in baseball, but this has got to be THE worst I have ever seen.
Its far too soon for there to be a video up, but here's the run down of what happened. It's the top of the 7th and the game is tied 2-2, The Rockies' Chris Iannetta is on third. Giants pitcher Tim Lincecum starts into his wind up when catcher Bengie Molina calls time. Now this is where it all goes wrong. The apparently bipolar home plate umpire Gary Darling puts his arms out, signally time (the announcers even recognized the time-out call)...and then a mere second later calls a balk on Lincecum and allows Iannetta to score from third, giving the Rockies the lead. The lead with which they ultimately won the game. Giants manager Bruce Bochy was thrown from the game while protesting the call, and Molina got into the argument as well.
This is just ridiculous. A game has been decided based on this asshole making one call (which caused Lincecum to stop his wind up in the first place) and then changing his mind.
Don't celebrate too hard, Rockies fans, you were handed this one on a silver platter.
