UK BBSers: From Russia with SNOW....

There's a light sprinkling of icy, snowy substance outside, but that's all so far.

Cue Americans showing up to call us a bunch of pussies in 5...4...3...2...1...

:D

6 inches is enough to freak out about over there?

Eh, I suppose DC would as well. There were snow days at many local schools when we got three inches last week.

It all seems a bit ridiculous to a New Englander though.

I think... I hope we'll escape the worst of it, ITL. :) On the other hand, this is the Great British Weather™ we're talking about...

[just checked 5 day weather forecast for home]

Oh bugger. :(

Oh, it is ridiculous. We don't get much snow these days (we've had one day of snow all winter where I am, so far), so when we do, we don't know how to handle it and freak out. We are very silly.

Stiff upper lip, that man! Put yer wellies on!

:D

That sounds awful I hate the cold, ir is extremely rare for us to get snow in Hobart at least below 400 meters. I think the last time we got snow that settled was in 1987.

However I am sure the residents of Adelaide, South Australia who have been having temperatures between 40-45C for many days would love to have such a cold snap.

A friend who lives on Kangaroo Island ha been complaining at me for the last week about the heat, so I've been telling her about the cold...

We've had a little snow, mostly melted by now though, and about 3 days earlier in the winter. Hopefully it's not as bad as the forecast said a few days back.

Meanwhile lucky Miss Chicken is enjoying pleasant weather in Tasmania. The lowest minimum temperature predicted in the next week is 12C, the highest maximum temperature predicted is 28C.

Miss Chicken believes, despite what other Australians say, that Hobart has the best climate in the world :)

No snow here yet, but the temperature sure has plummeted. So glad I'm not going anywhere tomorrow! Rush hour is going to be mental.

We're having some pretty good times at the moment as well. Dunedin is getting between 12c and 25c this summer, which is better than the 37c reached by Napier in the north island yesterday.

Americans?! How about members your own bloody Commonwealth? :p

Incidentally, I notice in that article your night time temperatures are set to drop to -2. Here in Ottawa, we were celebrating the fact that the daytime temp was climbing to -1 today...

It was snowing here earlier, but then it stopped and the thin dusting of snow melted. Then it started snowing again, really quite heavily, but then stopped, and the snow melted. We haven't had a good snowfall for at least 6 years. Not good enough to build a snowman at least. I think the last time was 2001/02?

ahhhh! theres about 4 inches of the ruddy stuff outside hate the snow its cold wet and tastes horrible

Bloody luxury. :p

Mind you, I was in Montreal this weekend, where right now, it's -14. (I shudder to think of what the temperature was yesterday when I went out for lunch during the break from my meeting. Environment Canada says it was -6, but there's no way it was that mild. More like -20 with the wind blowing at about a million kilometres per hour. :( )

It's -1 in Toronto currently, with tomorrow's high predicted to be -7. Which means it'll probably be about -12 up where I work.

Montreal can get damn cold. It feels colder than Ottawa, I find, even though the actual temperature is usually higher.
