Ubisoft/Massive Entertainment Making a Game Set in the Universe of James Cameron's Avatar

Ubisoft has announced that Massive Entertainment is working on a game set in the universe of James Cameron's Avatar series. The announcement video features comments from James Cameron and the article mentions Massive working with his company, so hopefully this will be more than just a quick cash in. Cameron did create a really cool world with Pandora, so if the game can capture the feel of that world, I think there is a lot of potential in this.
The announcements don't feature any details about the game, so there's nothing about it's story or how it relates to the movies.

Now the question is what will came out first, this game or the Avatar sequel. If either actually comes out:shrug:

No kidding. It'll be interesting to see if there's still an appetite for Avatar after a decade.

The 2009 Xbox 360 game had easy achievement points.

I never knew there was a game based on the movie. Avatar is one of the most forgettable movies I've seen in my lifetime. Never understood the popularity of it.

It's actually not a bad idea. I found the visuals to be very reminiscent of some video games. But yeah, I think it would have made much more sense closer to the movie's release. On the other hand, maybe they're hoping for this to be released close to the sequel.

Come to think of it, I think Avatar would make for a really cool MMO property.

Kinda related, but "Pandora - The World of Avatar" is opening in Disney's Animal Kingdom at the end of May. Looks pretty good too, from what I've seen so far.

Ditto. For me, it was fun enough to see once. But I have never been motivated to give it a second viewing.
