U.S.S. QUEST NCC-80053 Blueprint/Layout Project

Rotating nacelles!!!!!!!!!!!!

I gave myself a break from doing detail work on the QUEST by starting on the Captain's Shuttle.

IT HAS WINGS AND THE NACELLES ROTATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It just turned out that way, but I got a kick out of that. Now then.
Space-flight mode:

Atmospheric flight mode:

In storage, the nacelles retract up and the wings are retracted into the body:

The Captain's Shuttle is something the ENT-D had, and the VGR & ENT-E had their own versions also. In this case it's a huge shuttle that docks under the saucer.

Man, the nacelles are telescoping at an angle AND are hinged. That was a royal pain to match up properly.

These images are blue-line drawings with the contrast ramped up, they are not final, I still have lots of work to do on these. Maybe a few pictures explaining how the boarding ramps and landing pads work, for starters.

Anyway, I'll get back to the Quest herself soon.

Wow, i love the atmospheric flight mode, it reminds me alot of the NX shuttlepod, (which i'm not ashamed to say i loved). But, sorry, i'm not a fan of the shape of the underside.

I'm not a big fan of ENT, but the shuttle-pod design was excellent. The CS does resemble it a little, purely by accident.

This was a real pain to design, since it had to fit onto deck six. It went through at least ten different looks before I settled on this. I think it ended up looking like a tiny starship Voyager in space-flight mode.

Don't forget the Nova Class, it had one too.

Re: Rotating nacelles!!!!!!!!!!!!

Interesting and unique design there! It looks like the forward windows go all the way to the floor. Must be a great view! I'm personally imagining that there isn't a dashboard-style helm there, but a E-D style swing-away helm so that the passengers can get the most out of that window.

Yeah, there obviously isn't a forward consol front & center, like on the standard shuttle. The layout will be slightly more bridge-like.

Thanks for the comments, hopefully there will be presentable progress soon!

Re: Rotating nacelles!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, I'm veeeery close to finished with all the exterior details in red/blue line.

As such, I have some progress on the interior as well:

This is the completed final hull outline for decks 1 & 2, without any interior detail. There is a little 6-ft guy in that image for scale.

I'm going to be switching back and forth a little bit between the interior and exterior. The exterior window and escape-pod details will wait for the interior, but other than that they are all set to be turned into final drawings.

Re: Rotating nacelles!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmm, actually I made a minor mistake on Deck 2. IT SHALL BE RECTIFIED.

Meanwhile, here's deck 3 with some test corridors...and...a holodeck...

looks awesome. Quick Question? What kind of ship is she, a survey ship, an explorer, battleship, etc?

It's incredibly good work, and even a bridge plan! btw, with which software did you make the bridge and deck plans? some professional architect stuff or illustrator?

EDIT: and deck plans too!
