Two Women Athletes Calling it Quits

I know women sports isn't really high on people's radars but I was really shocked to learn that Annika Sorenstam and Justine Henin will be retiring. I think it was more of a shock that Henin would be retiring immediately. Didn't she do well at the Australian Open and ranked the top player in the world? As for Annika, I only saw some of her when flipping through the channels, but I really loved the thing she and Tiger were doing maybe a year ago comparing majors. Two of the best golfers doing that made the sport kind of fun.

I hope for the best with both of them. Both were classy and I wish I followed them more actually. It's far better than some of those pre-madonnas on the mens side.

Maybe but I didn't compare them to all of mens sports. I find some of the women athletes a bit of fresh air from what we get in the news every day.

I'm glad they don't. It's the same feeling I have about Hockey. I'm glad it doesn't get that much coverage because it keeps the sport and athletes pure IMO. I agree that if there was more coverage on the woman golfers and tennis players, there would probably be more dirt tossed on them but thank god there isn't.

On the other hand, if said female athlete is good looking, she will get followed around no matter how much she earns. Usually, strangely enough, by paparazzi working for celebrity gossip magazines aimed at women.

Yeah, it's almost 2:00 in the morning and it's hot as hell. I think that should tell me I should log off.

Why do you say that. What has Henin done other than being the top tennis woman player in the world.

She is a poor sport and a cheater on the court. Famous incidents include the hand incident in the 03 French open and quitting with no signs of injury in the 06 Australian final while down a set and 0-2 in the second set. There are a bunch of other unsportsman like incidents include a pattern of faking injuries on the court to gain time. I am sure some avid tennis fan can tell you more.
