I like this episode, but it's only now I've picked up that the planet the 6000 survivors of earth settled on in the alternate timeline is Ceti Alpha V.

So...had Phlox not cured Archer and this timeline had stuck...in 150 years or so their new home would be rendered uninhabitable when Ceti Alpha 6 explodes.

The Xindi really did do a number on humanity in that timeline....

Then again, we never find out exactly what made Ceti Alpha VI explode in the first place.

I mean, planets don't just up and explode for no reason. Something had to MAKE it explode. Perhaps that doesn't happen in this timeline?

Twilight is one of my favourite episodes of ENT. I always love a good alternate reality episode in Trek whenever the crew are put through the wringer. I also love the added tragic twist of the survivors settling on Cetic Alpha VI.

There's a SNW story (the fanfic, not the TV series) that deals with the Twilight timeline. It's one of my favorite of the collections.

Khan and his ilk find the struggling remnants of Humanity and unite them, taking the fight back to the Xindi and wiping them out.

Indeed. Mike Sussman even admitted in an interview he intentionally chose Ceti Alpha V as the new colony to send the message that even if the Xindi never found them, humanity is screwed in this timeline anyway.

Apparently they were going to introduce Columbia in this episode instead of using Intrepid. And then they wanted to use Columbia in E2 instead of Enterprise. Poor ship got no respect in alternate timelines.

Or the prime one. Look at Trip, transferring over and then leaving 30 seconds later.

You think that's bad, try reading the Destiny novels...you'll never guess what eventually happens to Columbia...
