Twilight

I read the first book and watched the movie. My sisters are obsessed. :rommie:

I just don't get the hype. I shall being going to see the second movie though. I just can't bear to be left out of girl's night. :guffaw:

I read the first, and flew through the rest... I even picked up The Host... they're shlock, badly written and pretty childish, but I couldn't put them down. They're shit, but entertaining shit.

I've read the 4 books (but I stole the 2 last ones on the web, I didn't want to pay for that) because I had the hope that something interesting would happen in the end...yeps, I'm optimistic...or a fool :(
I've read them in English and it didn't even do any good to my vocabulary.

One of my co-worker has read the books 3 times (in French), I still don't know what she didn't understood the 1st time

That Bella is an idiot, Jacob is a stalker, and the whole fucking thing has a creepy vibe running through it. But I think I got that the first time through...

i was unfortunate enough to have been forced to watch it. >_<

Ditto, albeit not the whole thing. A friend is a fan and absolutely insisted that I give it a try, and not allow myself to be swayed by preconceptions. 'How can you know you don't like it unless you try...', etc. I lasted just over an hour before I had to get away; and I've never felt the slightest twinge to see the rest or even look up what happens on Wiki. Rare are the movies that are this tacky, this self-involved and so in love of their own delusions of relevance, and terminally boring besides.

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

Teens are eating this crap up for some reason
That's the thing: while I might not be a fan of J. K. Rowling or Dan Brown their work is at least doing something original or repackaging old ideas in new ways. All Stephenie Meyer seems to have done is take Anne Rice vampires and make them even more juvenile and angst-ridden. Is that all it takes to become filthy rich now? Grab someone else's ideas and repackage them for teens a couple decades later?

I havent seen the first one but I saw the trailer for the 2nd before Harry Potter 6 & I kinda want to see it for the werewolves. Those are some big cuddly werewolves.

I've seen the trailer for New Moon, and my God, it looked horrible - every actor looked dull, bored and monotone, and the "action" looked terrible.

And yet I know I am being dragged to see it when it comes out by someone. Life is not fair.

You and me both...I might have to insist upon at least SOME alcohol consumption beforehand...

A friend requeated I read "Twilight." I got most of the way through it, then just could not finish it. So much seemed to consist of a MarySue character's repeated thoughts of "He's so cute/He's so ethereal." After the 100th time of reading something like that, I just couldn't continue.

I read the plot summary online. I don't think I missed much.

So people don't think I'm a total snob, I felt somewhat similarly about Stephen King's "The Stand"--but there it was, "The good guys are gathering over here./The bad guys are gathering over there." Maybe I was too young at the time (and I've liked other King books and even the tv version), but those two actions repeated for, it seemed, over 100 pages. Just too much repetition for me to continue.

I haven't seen Twilight, so I cannot say what the film was like, but the only person I know into the films and books cannot tell me exactly what they are about other than "oh, so and so is cute". And she is 36! It feels like emo porn for women more than a film.

Of course, the same woman said she loves Van Wilder, one of the absolute worst films ever because "Ryan Reynolds is hot!"

Apparently men no longer have a monopoly on shallowness.
