Twilight Zone Marathon on scifi channel.

One I keep watching for is the one with Barbara Nichols and Johnathon Harris called Twenty Two, where she dreams of going to the Morgue "Room For One More, Honey"
I thought that one was pretty much just standard TZ. But here are ones I like better:

The Jeopardy Room: Martin Landau imprisoned in a room that contains an unknown booby trap.

Mirror Image
: Vera Miles sees her double in a bus station (really spooky!)

Two
: Elizabeth Montgomery and Charles Bronson play survivors of opposite sides in a devastating war.

I went through the saved episodes trying to find the one where someone living in a regular looking house turns out to be in an alien zoo. I actually slogged thru two separate episodes revolving around eerily empty small towns that I thought were leading to the alien zoo ending, and neither of them did! I guess the Twilight Zone is chock full of eerily empty small towns. :D

Two is one that bores me, for some reason. Midnight Sun and Masks are great ones, though, and the girl that goes through a hole in her room to another dimension, that ones' creepy.

Mirror Image sounds really cool, wonder if I've seen it?

Sci-fi used to have a marathon on the 4th of July. however, they didn't have one in 2010.

There's a scene where she's in the ladies' room, someone opens the door and she sees the lobby reflected in the mirror over the sink: and she sees herself sitting in the lobby! You'd probably remember that scene if you'd seen it.

Ah yes, "Little Girl Lost." I love that one and don't find it at all creepy. Just saw it again this weekend.

"Midnight Sun", on the other hand, just freaks me out.

It's one I like to play on those 110 degress+ days :)

"Midnight Sun" is one of my all-time favorites, but I didn't manage to record it this time around.

Considering how it ends, that would be comforting. :D

That one sounds like "People Are Alike All Over", starring Roddy McDowell.

This past marathon showed several of my favorites:
- Stopover In A Quiet Town, one of Temis' "empty small town" eps. :D
- Little Girl Lost, which oddly enough I sort of experienced one night 20 years ago

and

- The Changing of the Guard, a very atypical episode for TZ, starring Donald Pleasance as a poetry professor being forced into retirement

I wonder what the ratings would be if they went back to consistent prime time showing of TZ? Or if they had a classic block one weeknight or such? I suspect they would get just as many viewers in a 6 or 7 pm airing of TZ as the oddball 3 am airings. I'd also like to know if anyone has those 3 am ratings, and if the numbers are better than the god awful Saturday night crappy movies?

Maybe people do like wrestling, and some serious naysayers and hardcore fans can debate the level of fake and fantasy in wrestling Irregardless, I don't think any of it belongs on the Sci-Fi Channel, or even Syfy.

Here's a news item covering the marathon's performance...

On Friday, December 31, The Twilight Zone trapped nearly one million total viewers (910,000) in that middle ground between science and superstition, peaking from 10-11PM at 1.2 million. That was up eight percent versus the comparable December 31, 2009 10-11PM time slot

Unfortunately, there's no listing of how individual episodes rated-last year, there were multiple episodes that ranked over a million viewers during the 2 days it aired.

Edit-35 episodes drew over a million viewers each last year...

A million on a late night cable holiday? That actually isn't that bad anymore. Prime network shows do decent with 5 mil nowadays. Only big realities and sports garner double digits right? I haven't kept up with ratings in so long. They've been inaccurate for awhile now anyway, and the days of numbers like Dallas and the classic Super Bowls are all but gone, aren't they?

I guess we're back to the SyFy jumping the shark talk again. IF they just stuck to their dang niche and gave audiences what they wanted, they'd be consistently credible. As opposed to overreaching for blockbusters that don't come and loosing your soul. Hmph.

I don't know. If it was more than a novelty I think it'd lose viewership fast. Especially since the episodes are all chopped up now to fit into a compressed time slot. Give me Internet or DVDs any day.

My point exactly! Would cable be popular again if we could ala cart stream channels that would air what we want uncut and with realistic amounts of commercial time and volume? I just think some of SyFy's practices are really shooting themselves in the foot. Don't they care that more people are watching classic sf shows on Hulu than the current drivel on their network? If you build it, they will come.

Hey, says the Hulu man, let's let people choose their own cool old shows. Eureka! I guess its all Universal NBC Comcast anyway, so someone up there has their hand in the pot, that's all that matters to them in the end.
