Greetings! I have the two-part episodes "The Best of Both Worlds" and "Redemption" on Blu-ray. Are there any more that were released like this? Thank you! Commander Mark
Encounter At Farpoint was on “The Next Level” Blu-Ray. It also had “The Inner Light” and “Sins Of The Father”—-although SOTF is the hybrid version that has 30 seconds upscaled from SD. JesterFace they only did those movie edits in the PAL/SECAM regions. In NTSC regions the only 2-part episodes released in movie edits on VHS were Farpoint and “All Good Things”, “Emissary” “The Way Of The Warrior” & “Caretaker” as those were originally aired as made-for-TV movies.
No, they didn't. TOS is the only other Trek series on blu-ray, and you generally have to buy whole seasons. Smaller selections of episodes are available in the "Roddenberry Vault" and "Origins" blu-ray releases. The only two-part episode of the whole series is "The Menagerie," but it never got a special standalone blu-ray. The impossibility of releasing DS9 and VOY on blu-ray is the subject of a long-running discussion in the DS9 forum. Kor
In some cases it looks like some of the two parters debuted in these movie versions first, as for example, Memory Alpha shows that Chain of Command debuted in the movie-edit version in April 1995 for home and rental VHS, but the actual episodes did not air until Sept. 13 & 20, 1995 on BBC. (According to MA, “Unification” was the last 2-part episode to air on Feb. 1 & 8, 1995 before it’s movie edit debuted on VHS on Feb 27, 1995) https://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Trek:_The_Next_Generation_-_The_Full_Length_TV_Movies In NTSC regions the only movie edit made available was Chain Of Command which debuted on the “Captain’s Log” set of the “Fan Collective” DVD series. Even with DS9 & Voyager, when Columbia House released the Collector’s Edition tapes, the one-hour masters were used for the multi part episodes, even though they would put the multi-parts on one tape: ie. DS9’s The Circle story was released on a 3-episode tape, whereas the other tapes would have 2 episodes or in a few cases, in order to not issue single episode tapes, the preceding or postceding episode would be put on the tape as well such as “The Adversary” was on the same tape as “The Way Of The Warrior”. (Here in North America Columbia House released all of DS9 and most of Voyager by subscription all though these seem to be scarcer than the regular retail versions. The regular retail versions were discontinued during DS9’s 5th season and Voyager’s 3rd and multiparty episode’s like Voyager’s “Future’s End” has each part issued on seperate tapes except for the TV Movies like “Caretaker”). https://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Trek:_Fan_Collective_-_Captain's_Log
