Hard To Call...
Adventures of Old Christine and Gary Unmarried

Losers...
Pushing Daisies, Dirty Sexy Money, Stylista and Lipstick Jungle

Round-Up...

Hard to call with CBS about there two comedies though rumor has it both recieved full pick ups which is not surprising but since CBS has been affected much by the recent audience drop then it could go either way for the two shows though Old Christine has improved ever week since its season debut (6.7-8.0).

As for ABC they really need to move Private Practice now infact come midseason I would move it to 10pm Thursday with Lost and Life on Mars switching to Wednesdays 9-11pm. LOST at 9pm may even bump PD a little at 8pm, which is going to be canned soon though at this rate.

KR dropped a little but if it can stay above 7 million then season 2 is a pretty much given with how NBC are these days though despite winning the male demo, I would prefer a higher overall demo. Deal or No Deal has loss all appeal though 7.6 million and cheap to produce will keep it coming back and finally Lipstick Jungle is a total waste of time.

CW - why are your ideas for new shows SHIT !!!!

The ratings for Pushing Daisies are incredibly depressing. I have to wonder what would have happened without the writer's strike. Would the show have maintained its audience across a full season, or would people have drifted away anyway?

Thank you for these threads. You have become my main source of TV ratings information and analysis.

I think PD would have been doomed anyway, maybe later in its run but the show content is what's causing people to get bored and leave. Bryan Fuller has a wonderful sense of humor and charm but PD lacks dramatic bite, the kind of conflict that grabs you by the throat and won't let you change the channel.

The entertainment field is just too competitive for anything "nice" to survive. Shows much demand the audience watches or they die. A show can be "nice" in the PD way but there has to be an added element that is compelling. Worrying about Chuck's aunts finding out she's alive is just not a strong enough element, it's gotta be more elemental, life-or-death, that that.

And considering Ned's powers, it wouldn't have been so hard to come up with something like that. Ned is a murderer - he deliberately killed a man just to resurrect Chuck. Have the cops find out and be looking for the killer. Maybe have an antagonist-cop, someone open-minded enough to realize what kind of killer he's looking for.

Imagine if Fox Mulder were handed the funeral director's murder as an X-File and was determined to track down the killer in his usual dogged way. That subplot might keep the audience from drifting away - they want to see what happens when "Mulder" finally tracks down Ned. Ned & the rest don't even need to know what's coming. The conflict just needs to be more amped up and dire or people get bored.

^^
But someone tries to kill them in every episode ;)

That's an excellent idea about a cop going after Ned for murder, though!

In the lastest ratings thread I suggested to save a few of there shows that ABC should do this come midseason...

WEDNESDAY - PD/LOST/LoM

THURSDAY - Betty/Greys/PP

I would consider saying LOST at 8pm to try and save PD if pushed to 9 but I think it would hurt LoM, which has a bigger chance IMO to be saved than PD.

But someone tries to kill them in every episode

Kind of hard to take that threat seriously. ;) The danger should be something that matters to Ned, his self-image as a good person. Nobody's going to kill off the lead character but have him exposed as an amoral killer - force him to realize that's what he is - would be a credible threat.
