TV Ratings (Wednesday 11th May)

^ I agree to an extent that the network have problems with their expectations at times but in the case for Breaking In (which dropped to a 2.3 in the finals) I can understand why FOX was un happy with the alarming drop. I think the biggest problem for shows if there is a set theme for the night thats supposed to grab the same audience aka Sitcoms or crime drama's back to back.

There are exceptions though with ABC not really bothered by Coguar Town rentention out of Modern Family because its numbers are still decent-ish. Also Fringe & Kitchen Nightmares have little in the way of the same audience apart from they appeal to younger viewers more than older ones so they get judged on their own performance. ABC seems to care little about retention out of DTWS with Castle & Body of Proof.

They need to quit worrying about what a show is doing relative to the show that's on before it. People don't watch shows because they liked the show that was on before it (except possibly the half hour block shows), they watch a show, because they like it better than the other shows that are on at the same time.

For example, take American Idol. Very popular, gets a lot of ratings, but why should there be ANY expectations that these viewers are gonna stick around and watch a drama or whatever. They like Idol because they like that kind of show, and it shouldn't come as any to surprise to any network exec that "Oh gee, maybe they won't stick around to watch whatever show we put on afterwards that's not Idol." Well DUH!

Good for ABC.

So I'm looking at these numbers for Happy Endings and yet I'm hearing it got renewed? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot

:wtf::eek::confused:

Well don't take my word for it Mr Light. It was not on the cancel list, and a friend who watches it told me it was renewed. But I have not been able to confirm that.

OK so why would they axe Mr. Sunshine and keep Happy Endings? I don't recall MS ratings being any worse than that HE.

ABC has renewed it.

Unbelievable. :confused:

Exepect it to fall further and be cancelled within 13 episodes next season. I don't understand if there so keen on the show why launch so many episodes at 10pm & 10:30pm :rolleyes:. Why not give it a slot after The Middle or after Coguar Town.

After Coguar Town... like at 10pm when the show airs? :lol:

Mr. Sunshine is bad and Happy Endings has it moments and the best gay character on network TV. :p

I meant to Modern Family :p and I think Jack from Torchwood might have something to say about being the best gay character on TV ;)

Captain Jack isn't gay, he likes everything. :p

I wasn't talking about good or bad, simply about ratings, I don't remember MS's ratings being as BAD as HE's ratings were this week. But maybe I just don't recall correctly.

Happy Endings is on at 10pm, different standards. It's ratings are more stable, and there are cheaper actors and by the looks of it, cheaper sets too.
