Next season ABC should air a drama comedy to go with the nights theme, they should try struggling Brother & Sisters there IMO for at least a 13 episode 6th season.

I still think it will end up with some sort of a 3rd season maybe as a midseason show. I believe Matthew Perry new show is taking the slot for a while come January.

Two different shows are taking the spot sometime mid season. I'm also pretty sure it never got upgraded to a full season order like The Middle and Morden Family did in the spring.

Indeed CT has no pickup yet and won't hit 22 episodes due to being held back for a while it seems. I said for ages The Middle was the better fit for the post MF slot though Perry show could do the job. Coguar Town has probably been promoted to "On The Bubble" status now.

The Middle isn't a 9:30 show. Plus ABC is smart enough to see that you should lead ins. CT shouldn't even have been picked up anyways.

The Middle isn't a 9:30 show.

When it comes to sitcoms I don't think the same rules apply as to drama's where your 9pm can be a little more girttier and darker than your 8pm shows typically. I just feel The Middle fits better with the whole family angle and theme of Modern Family. However if ABC can find another show to settle in after MF then all will be well. ABC though must be heavily frustrated with the demo for The Middle, remember when sitcoms used to be the bedrock for a good 18-49 demo

The 18-49 demo doesn't seem, to like wednesday nights as much as Monday/Tuesday and Thursday.

Not that really matters any more, and one week doesn't make a trend, but were the numbers for The Defenders slightly better than they've been in awhile?

As for Cougar Town, this one still puzzles me. I still think it's the funniest sitcom of ABC's weds night, but nobody watches it.

I just don't find it funny. There's the typical dumb ex-husband, new boyfriend, etc. It's just feels old.

Yeah I tried watching it a few times, including Wednesday night, and it's just not funny.

Sure The middle is old rehashes too, but they at least put a spin of it, and it's still funny. CT I didn't laugh once last episode.

Obviously you're more in touch with how the general public views it than I am. I find it hilarious, but I'm clearly in a minority.

Don't you normally like all the shows no one else does?

Apparently so. A lot of my favorites are either being canned (The Good Guys goes away tonight for example) or they're being classified as "Down comes the axe" (The Defenders.)

It's a miracle that The Big Bang Theory has lasted.

As for the new shows that were greenlighted for this current season, I must have the same tastes as those in charge of the greenlighting, but not the same taste as the general viewing public who ended up hating them.

Next year I've sworn off all new shows. I'll wait until they're guaranteed a renewal before tuning in.

I keep saying Cougar Town is the funniest show on Wednesday nights too. It does have a fresh feel to it, unlike any other comedy on tv. It's very low-key and relies solely on character development for its humour rather than outlandish plots and forced gags.

I like The Middle too, but think it should stay at 8:00. It'd die after MF, in my opinion. Although I still don't find MF funny, with the exception of Ty Burrell and Sofia Vergara.

I don't really get the whole 'theme' night that Jax always talks about....I want variety from one show to the next. With sitcoms I guess it's a bit easier, but eg, I stopped watching Private Practice a couple years ago when it was moved to be after Grey's Anatomy, cuz that was just too much medical and too much Shonda Rhimes for one long stretch. I wouldn't watch two different CSI or NCIS series or whatever else back to back either. Schedules should diversity, not pack everything similar together.

Guess I should have watched American Idol and Dancing With the Stars when they started.

The X Factor starts up in the fall, make sure to watch it from the beginning! :p

Cougar Town is just not funny. It has a different feel filming wise but still just feels rehashed to death. The Middle is funny, but is Malcolm in the Middle with a more sane family. Modern Family is a fine show, a few giggles, but it isn't the best comedy on TV.

The only different sitcoms I can think of on TV today are Community, there is rarely sitcoms dealing with college in the way that they do, and Raising Hope. How many shows are about a guy getting a serial killer knocked up and having to raise their baby together?

Everything else is a rehash.

You know I was thinking about this, historically that has not been the case. Most of my life, my favorite shows have been popular shows that have enjoyed several seasons.

For some reason, this "bad taste" that I'm now exhibiting is a fairly recent development. Not sure how and why my "radar" has gotten so out of whack.

But it doesn't matter. It's just TV shows.
