Round-Up...

Virtually a good night all round and Eli Stone did far better than I expected but there is some bad news when we take a closer look at the half hour numbers and the audience drop....

Eli Stone (ABC)
10:00 p.m. – 10.07 million & 2.5/7
10:30 p.m. – 7.57 million & 2.0/5

That was a loss of 2.5 million viewers and 20 percent in the demo in the second half hour so next week might see a big drop from last night's numbers. Also expect to see ABC cancel Opportunity Knocks before the end of the month.

CBS and FOX enjoyed perfect nights and while it does seem House has loss many of the older viewers to NCIS, the demo proves that the younger audience is sticking with it and the show is in no danger, infact I think we will see the show climb to 14-15 million come the 2nd half of the season. Fringe continue to be the perfect partner with good solid numbers and retnetion and the same can be said for CBS with NCIS, The Mentalist and Without A Trace.

NBC did a solid job considering what it was up against though CW decided to waste a night on repeats so nothing to report there.

^As proven by the ratings. ;)

I've been watching Fringe but I think after last night I'm going to call it quits. The cast is good, but the show just hasn't grabbed me. It really does feel like an X-Files redux. I haven't been able to get into the characters or the main mystery.

I might check out The Mentalist next week. It seems like it's the only new show that's really doing well, and I am curious about it. Plus, Simon Baker is hot. ;)

Yeah, I'm almost there, but the thought of underlying storyline (aka the Pattern), JJ Abrham's involvement and John Noble's character keep me just interested enough to spend 45 minute of my week keeping up with it till Fox cancel's it.

The Pattern is mildly intriguing, though I'm afraid it will quickly become as convoluted as the X-Files did as time went on. I'm intrigued by the company at the center of it all, though.

John Noble's character is great. The writing for him is excellent, and the actor is just excellent. I'm not sure it's enough to keep me watching, though.

I'm also not sure how much longer I'm going to continue watching. John Noble is great, and I want to know more about the pattern and the observer, but pretty much everything else about the show is pretty mediocre.

The Mentalist;

has a remarkable track record for solving serious crimes by using his razor sharp skills of observation.

Erm, isn't this just Psych without the humour?

Hehe, 90210 was a rerun? Well I'll be...

Makes life a little easier to catch up with this weekend...

Fits in nicely with CBS's geriatric-skewing procedural strategy. Here's an interesting statistic to mull, the most recent ratings:

The Mentalist - 15M viewers, 3.4/8 in the 18-49 demo.
Heroes - 8.75M viewers, 4.3/10 in the 18-49 demo.

Heroes has far fewer viewers but a higher demo where it counts, and therefore is the better show success-wise (not to mention being on NBC where the standard for what is good is lower than on CBS). That shows how CBS is doing things - cast a wide net and get the demo that way along with a lot of trash-fish (everyone over 49 :D) rather than NBC's narrow focus on the young demo bolstered ongoing attempts to pay the bills via something other than Neilsens (eg, Nissan Versas and Cameros for all!)

Temis, do you always call anyone over 49 a "trash-fish"? :D

I agree that John Noble is the only excellent thing about Fringe. The FBI characters, most especially the main character, are boring and lifeless as hell, the plotlines are very generic and uninteresting. Only the Observer episode was special.
