Hopefully I won't make any spelling mistakes or JKTim might nott (oh dam) allow this thread to be posted since it won't pass the higih (dam another one) standards TREK BBS has for spelling that apparantly only applies to me.

More to come later once I've gone back to school for my English lessons.

CW should call it a night but I want to start watching Reaper and get several seasons out of it so I guess we will just have to tolerate it ;)

The Mentalist really is doing incredibly well! It seems to be growing, too...IIRC, it was getting in the 15 millions the last few weeks. Impressive. I really need to check that show out.

Guess I shouldn't have blown away the first few episodes of "The Mentalist" without watching them.

I figured it'd get canceled so why bother?

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The CW has ordered five additional episodes of its freshman entry "Privileged."

The netlet asked for two more scripts of the series last month, setting the table for the aforementioned order. In total, 18 episodes of the Joanna Garcia-led newcomer are set to be produced.

In addition, episodes 11 and 12 of the series have been slotted for the Monday, 9:00/8:00c slot on December 1 and December 8, respectively, following "Gossip Girl." Said installments will then encore in its regular Tuesday, 9:00/8:00c home.

To date the show is averaging a so-so 2.1 rating among the CW's target demographic: women 18-34.
at least they are trying to grow the shows audience

The Mentalist is such a House clone. Except that it's star plays a likable character, which doesn't seem like a big artistic difference to me. It even has a flock of ugly doclings (aka cops.)

I never realized NCIS was such the big hitter until recently. You think they'd be able to afford better special effects!

And Eli Stone is NOT a 10 p.m. show.

NCIS has grown ever year since it began, its becoming an exception to the whole current TV rule of shedding your viewers. Eli Stone is not a show sadly but theres no real harm with ABC getting a full season out of it since they have limited replacements and 7 million for 10pm is ok for now but it will not see a 3rd season.

They must be having quite a day of it in LA. The axe has just fallen on three shows: Lipstick Jungle, My Own Worst Enemy and MadTV.

NBC’s My Own Worst Enemy starred Christian Slater as a secret agent who knew nothing of his alias-self, thanks to an implanted chip that could see him switch from one role to another. It was one of the network’s big new hopes for the Fall season, and acquired by the Seven Network. There will be nine episodes in total, potentially allowing a summer scheduling by Seven.

Lipstick Jungle, another Seven show, follows the path of its “sister act” Cashmere Mafia. Starring Brooke Shields and Kim Raver, it was created by Candace Bushnell. In Australia it struggled to build an audience on Sunday nights.
Meanwhile FOX has cancelled the long running sketch show MadTV, which often screens late nights on Nine.

Despite the end of its 14th season, co-creator David Salzman plans to shop the show to cable networks and other outlets.
well finally two of those axings were long over due.

What's the criteria for a "winner" in the 10pm slot? Eli Stone getting 7 million in that timeslot doesn't seem too bad, really. I don't get what makes that a loser, and a definite to not get another season, I guess. That 7 million number marks it as a show that outperforms more than half the weekly shows on the networks, really. Competition is certainly less at 10pm, but since so are the total viewers, I guess I don't understand why that ends up as a loser. For example, to compare against the Monday night lineup, it beats anything on Fox, NBC, or CW, and in most cases, that's in total numbers AND demo :p Hell, Heroes has a better demo number, but in total viewers, they're within 1 million of eachother, and that's with Heroes being a 9pm on Monday Night prime spot, and getting 'tentpole' advertising status.

Anywho, not trying to go on a rant or defend Eli Stone as an amazing show (it's certainly quirky and entertaining, however, and pretty good for a 10pm show), but guess I just don't understand how winners and losers are determined on this one...

First it came dead last in that timeslot and was 2 million behind NBC & 4 million behind CBS. Also the demo at 2.0 is crap well behind everything for that night except CW shows. The show has also dropped off heavily from its debut and last season was getting barely better numbers so also no real improvement.

I tend to judge a show on past performance, oppostion, Lead out show, network it airs and time/day slot plus the general performance of other shows on the same night. 7 million would be great if Friday night and also Eli Stone is a new show so it's expected to be brining viewers and not shedding like ABC's BL which is 5 years old and gets at least 1-1.5 million more viewers plus higher demo.
