Round-Up
CBS won a good night all around for everyone except FOX who have had a topsy turvy start to new season and look set to lose at least one of the two crowns they won last year for most Viewers & Demo.

Survivor is slighty down from last year but remains the show to beat at 8pm and then at 9pm CSI returned with huge ratings and a well above-average demo, a trend I think we will see more of now that Grissom is leaving and people don't want to miss his final episodes. Eleventh Hour did well for a 10pm show but misses out on the winners list due to not holding onto enough of CSI audience and being placed 2nd in viewers and 3rd in the demo.

ABC had a mixed but solid night with Ugly Betty seemingly settling in a decent but down from one year ago position. Greys scored well but was down several million viewers from one year ago and was heavily beaten in the demo by CSI for the first time in a while. Life on Mars was pure good news by winning the 10pm slot in viewers, finishing 2nd in the demo and a good overall retention from Greys lead in.

NBC had a better than normal Thursday night though while My Name is Earl crept out of the losers list I think we will see big erosion come the season end. Kath & Kim did well to build out of its lead in but I would of thought the 8pm slot might of suited it better for the Series debut and from what I heard expect a drop in week 2. SNL the show with the most misleading title did very well and NBC have 2 or 3 more Thursday episodes left so that should help them in October. The Office was its normal self but just missed out of the winners list this week and ER benefited greatly from SNL/Office lead in's and scored the demo win and 9 million is not to shabby if you forget it used to pull in 20 million years ago.

CW had a typical solid night by there standards with there normal lineup however I guess Baseball is not that popular after all with a weak showning on FOX but hey its was cheap to have am sure so no real damage.

Smallville did VERY well by theCW standards, lets be honest the whole network has rebound, and is on the up.

as for MLB, im not sure but arnt ratings normally better than that? Even if its not the Cubs you would think Dodgers might draw some interest.

Good start for both Life on Mars & 11th Hour.

It was awful. Intolerable characters, no compelling story, no innovative filming techniques, nothing at all to recommend it. I'm very upset that it's sitting there like a festering pimple on the face of an otherwise great night of television.

It's correct title... Saturday Night Live Thursday Weekend Update.

The name is better than anything SNL has done, without Tina Fey, in years.

Actually while Smallville remains the top scripted show, every week this season it is performing significantly worse then the year ago numbers. Top Model is running even more significantly down, its Friday and Sunday nights are down (Friday by a huge margin).

Monday is up with both Gossip Girl and One Tree HIll performing well.

Tuesday is down (mainly due to Privilege barely crossing two million viewers).

Wednesday is down (thanks to huge loses in Top Model and a repeat of 90210).

Thursday is down, though so far Supernatural has improved each weak over its year ago numbers).

So while its had three successes (One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, and Supernatural) both 90210 and Privileged are performing below expectations.

Wow-wa-whee-wa for CSI and SNL-Thurs! I thought that Greys was tying or beating CSI the past couple years.

CSI got 23 million (well almost)??? HOLY FUCK!

And it was down nearly 2 million from its season opener last year. So like almost ever show tis showing declines.

Though Grey's has taken a harder hit.

So far only one thursday show has been up both on its premiere and ever other episode so far compared to the year ago numbers. And thats kinda of depressing.

Nice numbers though for SNL thursday.

oh yea BOO for canning Las Vegas

My bet is Life on Mars will lock in the young male demo well enough to hang onto that decent start but Eleventh Hour will struggle, especially in the 18-49 demo.

Good start for LoM, and The CW's continued resurgence serves to give Supernatural a great chance of returning next year.

Re Friday's, goodbye to The Ex List and Life (sadly). Hope Numb3rs picks up a little. Besides that, Friday nights, meh.....

not a good start for Kath & Kim,

It's on NBC, it will probably survive even at that godawful level. Life's numbers (4.92M, 1.4/ 4) is more the level it takes to get something cancelled on NBC nowadays.
I agree if ratings stay at that level then the show should survive, however that is not how things go, ratings normally go down and then level off. If K&K stays at this level it will be fine, but I dont think it will.

Good. What a turd. I'm hoping for a 3-and-out here.
