More To Come Later...

I checked out the show Kath & Kim last night (the last 20 mins)...I have to say, that has to be the worst show ever. The camera kept moviing...not only that, the show wasn't even interesting at all. Looks like this will be the 2nd comedy show to get cancelled...most likely will be gone in a couple weeks or so I bet

Wow, Life on Mars is tanking. I thought the novelty of the 70s setting would keep viewers more interested. From what I saw, it's a good quality show. I guess people just don't give a flip about the premise, the characters, the story...? And there's probably too many sci fi tinged cop shows kickin' around. I know I'm sick of the whole sub-genre.

The viewer stats aren't terrible but the demo is bad. Just for context, compare LoM to Heroes, the viewership isn't too different but the demo number definitely is.

Life on Mars
8.06 million (#4); A18-49: 2.5/ 7 (#4)

Heroes
8.46 million viewers (#3); A18-49: 3.9/ 9 (#2)

...but check out Eleventh Hour's crappy demo - with a much bigger audience than Heroes, the demo is worse. It's lucky to have that CSI lead-in because it's going to survive on sheer volume of viewers rather than quality.

Eleventh Hour
12.16 million (#1); A18-49: 3.1/ 8 (#3)

LoM is fourth in the demo for the timeslot, it's in real trouble, particularly the way it's squandering the lead-in provided by ABC's superstar, Grey's Anatomy (I still cannot fathom how those audiences are considered remotely compatable), losing more than half the demo, wow. Having that primo timeslot means that ABC expected big things from LoM. Enjoy it now if you're watching it because squandering a hit show's lead is one of the key predictors of cancellation.

Will talk about when I do my round-up but ABC need to make changes to save more then LoM like this...

Move LOST to Wednesday at 9pm with LoM airing at 10pm

Move Private Practice to 10pm on Thursday or you could maybe try 8pm with Ugly Betty moving to Wednesdays.

LOST and LoM will have more similar audiences then Greys & LoM and your helping out Private Practice too.

I must say, that makes sense. A Pushing Daisies/Lost/Life on Mars lineup would make sense. As would Ugly Betty/Grey's Anatomy/Private Practice. Hmm...

Hey get me a job at ABC and I will make it happen

Wow, why does Earl do so badly? I love that show. Kath & Kim deserves that awful rating; it's an awful show. Nice to see Office n' SNL doing so well.

Winners...
Survivor, CSI, Eleventh Hour, Grey’s Anatomy and World Series Game 2

Honorable Mention...
Ugly Betty, ER, The Office and SNL

Decent...
Smallville and Supernatural

Borderline...
Life on Mars

Losers...
My Name is Earl and Kath n Kim

Round-Up...

Lets start with ABC, which has gone downhill from a good opening week to the season. However I think while Ugly Betty is down from one year ago the ratings this time is worthy of a Honorable Mention due to an increase of 450,000 Viewers & 0.2 in the demo from last week. Grey’s is down big time from last year and even loss to CSI in the demo but those numbers are still great overall. Life on Mars cannot drop below 8 million if it wants a 2nd season though I do feel excluding a huge drop we will see a full season order but ABC should do this come midseason...

Wednesday - PD/LOST/LoM
Thursday - Betty/Greys/PP

But of course they won't and will lose PP, PD and LoM due to ratings and carry on killing LOST. DAM NETWORKS.

CBS had no worries like usual and to the morons over at other TV forums saying Eleventh Hour wastes CSI lead in, I say...Show me a single show at 10pm that could hold the majorty of a 19 million audience, not even CSI Miami gets much higher than Eleventh Hour in viewers these days so a good job I say for the newbie show.

Baseball was down from one year ago but with a less high profile final and still solid numbers, FOX will be happy so far. Talking of happy CW must be with its strongest night though I doubt the Robin spinoff will bring in Smallville numbers next year should it make it to air.

Last and very least we have NBC to talk about which keeps on finding new lows that no one else in its position could. NBC need to clear half there shows for next season IMO and am sorry but My Name Is Earl is one because it won't bring in new viewers after 4 years and with this season (if 22 eps) bringing the show to 91 episodes, I feel thats enough for a good re-run package. Kath n Kim won't even last midseason and expect the show to be pulled after 9 at best. The Office loss viewers to Baseball probably but the demo held firm and SNL enjoyed another good night, NBC should consider a SNL spinoff full time for this night next season. ER is down so much from its past but in the current climate its doing more good than harm for NBC.

even with ratings down generally, there is no way Kath & Kim will get a full season. My Name is Earl could be worse in the current climate

Life on Mars losing 50% of the lead-in is pretty bad; Eleventh Hour loses 40% of the lead-in but that may still pass muster with CBS. Following a hit show in the 10pm slot seems like a perennial problem. Eleventh Hour is stable and will probably survive; ABC is looking so shakey that Life on Mars might survive, too. But it will be a closer call.

I still love the show too. That is the one show that my wife and I are both excited about during the week. And, this season has been classic. I still think last week's episode with Earl and Randy going to cheerleader camp as one of the funniest episodes ever! I hope it will find its audience again because it deserves it.
