Some new from FOX...
Fox has pushed back the premiere date of Family Guy spinoff "The Cleveland Show" to the fall of next year.

Skein based on the Cleveland Brown character from "family Guy" had been announced at Fox's upfront as late spring premiere for this season. But that was mostly for PR value. Internally at the net there was little doubt that the animated series would need more time for development and production and was unlikely to bow this season.

In announcing the new preem date, Fox said it has picked up another nine segs of "Cleveland," giving FOX TV production a full 22 episode season order for the 2009-10 season.

That's surprising to hear about the Cleveland Show... not that I was waiting with baited breath or anything. He's the least interesting character on the show. Still, I'm interested in the family of talking bears :p

How come KOTH gets canceled when it gets superior ratings to AmDad every week? Because as an older show its more expensive?

Quick Round-up...

CBS had its typical good night and got a boost from the overrun football especially 60 minutes. There has been rumors of Cold Case going to Friday next season to boost that night but I think that would be a mistake. The Unit is off all lists this week cause only 30 mins are up and despite them looking ok, it normally suffers a drop in the last 30 mins like most Sunday 10pm shows.

I bet NBC wishes football was on everynight and I bet CW wishes they actually had just a fanbase.

ABC stared off with an unimpressive NASCAR overrun and then a shorter 30 mins version of the struggling Home Videos, which seems would suit Saturday nights better. The rest of the shows for ABC may be down from one year ago but all doing good work even though some idiots Ik now are calling for B&S to be axed due to poor retention, a complete joke if I ever heard one.

FOX had a typical night with The Simpsons and Family Guy scoring solid viewers totals and demos but KOTH & AD, lagged behind. I understand why FOX cancelled the KOTH due to cost but I still would of given it half a season for next year and to stop wasting the 7-8 slot. American Dad has been given a 5th season to make 100 episodes but it won't go much further, the ratings are simply not that good and I expect it to be axed within 2 more seasons.

I think Seth Mcfarlane has video of some executive at FOX with a goat or something. Pretty soon, he'll be muscling out Matt Groening. How many shows does this guy get to have?

Just watched FG and American Dad...

FG was much better then last week especially the ending with the shower scene. American Dad for me has seen Seth's best work of the last 2 years and defintly warrants better ratings but no way it will last half as long as FG, which I expect can beat and will beat KOTH 13 seasons.

Ugh. ABC has really shot itself in the foot with NASCAR this year. They demanded later start times for the races so they could attempt to get more West Coast viewers (that failed, and the ratings have been lower across the board) without considering that they'd have overruns. Not only did they piss off a ton of NASCAR fans by moving the last 30 laps of the race to ESPN2, it didn't do anything for them! AFV got lower ratings. Not to mention that ABC's broadcasts are about as exciting as drying paint.

Could we please get NASCAR back on a network that cares about something other than college football? Like it is for the first half of the year (FOX)?

As I understand it, even though KOTH is canceled there will still be new episodes for the Fall 2009 season due to the long production cycle of an animated series.

In all honesty, ABC has much bigger problems than worrying about a 10 pm show which brings in north of 10 million viewers on a weekly basis, lands A-list guest stars AND is always mentioned at Emmy time. They're not going to touch their Sunday lineup as long as the ratings remain where they are.

Also, remember B/S until very recently was competing head to head with Mad Men, the drama Emmy winner, and has formidable competition with Cold Case/The Unit (depending on which one is airing at 10 pm). I'm not worried in the least.

Seth Macfarlane has signed a new $100,000,000 contract with Fox Entertainment to develop new programs for them. For some reason I think that the Cleveland Show is only one of three that he has in development.
