Round-Up...

ABC had a typical Sunday night so not much to say there and CBS had a typical up an down 2nd place finish but thank god Big Brother is over and lets hope we never have to see it again during a non summer time.

Dexter is close to ending its run on CBS and overall the show has done decent work in terms of filling in for others. Its numbers have held every week and 6.5 million is not bad considering that millions have already seen the show on its original SHOWTIME airing, DVD's and internet downloads like Torrents, I tunes etc. If I was CBS I would get my hands on season 2 for a summer showing or maybe friday nights.

FOX, IMO are coming to a crossroads soon with its animated sunday night lineup. The Simpsons hits its 20th season next fall and that was supposed to be the orignal ending set for the show according to its creator and I think he will keep that date in his mind. King of The Hill is another show that can't last much longer and should be retired within the next 2 years.

However Family Guy is the top rated of all the shows and even though the episodes aren't as stellar as they used to be I think the ratings will hold long enough for this show to carry on for at least well into its 10th season though IMO, I would set the target of 200 episodes before ending it. American Dad however never holds the FG audience though I think it's 3rd season has been the best of all the comedy shows but with average ratings, I think FOX should get over 100 episodes and then end it.

Monk and Psych are immune from the losers list due to being cable repeats but still the demo is shocking and unlike Dexter for CBS , I see no point for NBC to ever air them again.

None of the three original CW airing last night deserve pickups but The Game and Everybody Hates Chris have been given new seasons but even by CW standards they have been shocking.

Ya know, The Simpsons comes in #2 at 8 pm across all networks and then #2 on Fox. Why on Earth would they cancel it? It still draws respectable ratings, makes Fox money hand over fist in all ancillary deals and is the anchor for the night. The quality isn't as good as it once was...but as long as people watch, I'm sure Fox will continue to put it on the air.

It's nice to see the Brothers and Sisters rating go up from last week. Now that people know the show is back and there is strong original programming leading into it, we should be in this range every week.

And a ditto on Big Brother. If I never have to watch another minute of this borefest, I'd be tickled silly.

The question is can FOX carry on making the show without Matt Groening and of course am sure so of the actors are becoming a little tired. 20 seasons would be the best way to end it as a TV show but the 1st movie was a huge success so why make at least two more after the 20th season. A movie will make FOX more money than a season ever could and in a shorter space of time.

I dunno...as long as Fox keeps writing the checks and Groening continues to cash them, I don't see why he would leave. And even if he did, that doesn't mean James L. Brooks and Sam Simon couldn't carry on without him. Bring some fresh blood on board and reinvigorate the show.

As for the actors, same deal. Give them modest pay bumps and they'll all be back again.

I'm not so sure the movies make more than seasons when you factor in syndication deals and DVD's.

I don't know how much, FOX makes from the season but the 1st movie did very well..

Budget - $75 million

Worldwide Gross - $526,417,972

DVD North America Gross (as of Feb 24th) - $56.72 million.

So god knows how high the worldwide DVD gross is and this is not counting any merchandise as well from the movie and the bump it probably gave the EA Game.

Rumors are FOX are pushing for a sequel movie after the 20th season anyway but if I was FOX, I'd go for 2 more.
